If you haven’t caught wind of the major change in the James Bond movie realm, let me fill you in. Due to Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson’s involvement in a partnership with Amazon-MGM Studios, Amazon-MGM Studios now has creative control over the James Bond franchise. Even though EON Productions will still share ownership of the cinematic history based on Ian Fleming’s character, Commander Bond’s movie world is now under the management of its studio partner.
Despite some apprehension among devoted fans, there’s a possibility that the production of James Bond 26 could speed up significantly. If I were overseeing this iconic franchise, here are the steps I’d aim to implement swiftly to ensure a smooth process for both studio executives and enthusiasts:
1. Finalize the script as soon as possible, ensuring it maintains the essence of the Bond character while offering fresh, engaging storylines.
2. Secure a director who can bring a unique vision to the film, staying true to the series’ tradition of excellence in action and storytelling.
3. Cast an actor for the role of James Bond that resonates with audiences and embodies the characteristics of the iconic spy.
4. Begin pre-production work, such as scouting locations, designing sets, and organizing logistics to ensure a seamless production process.
5. Coordinate with marketing teams to create buzz around the film’s release, keeping fans engaged and excited about what’s to come.
6. Work closely with the studio to establish a realistic production timeline and budget, ensuring that the film can be made within these constraints while still delivering high-quality entertainment.
7. Foster open communication between all parties involved in the production process, encouraging collaboration and cooperation to ensure the best possible outcome for James Bond 26.
The Entire James Bond Collection Needs To Be Added Back To Prime Video
In all honesty, such a move by Amazon-MGM Studios seems like a minimal effort considering the news at hand. I’m not suggesting a meager assortment of titles, as we’ve already experienced that during the 2025 James Bond Day streaming event. It’s high time for this young streaming service, which has recently merged with MGM Studios, to fully control the James Bond catalog and make it accessible online for longer than just a month.
Additionally, let’s consider including the unofficial adaptations of Casino Royale before EON Productions, along with Never Say Never Again, in our collection. These films may not be officially recognized or easily accessible on physical media these days, but there’s a good number of people who would be intrigued to watch them due to their unique characteristics.

A 4K Box Set Of The EON Productions Bond Movies Is Essential
During the 60th anniversary celebration last year, many fans pointed out a significant oversight: the absence of a 4K reissue of the 007 adventures on physical media. It’s worth noting that there are already versions available, boasting high-definition detail from as early as Dr. No, as demonstrated by the Prime Video debut of James Bond in the initial stages of lockdown back in 2020.
What we still need is a thoughtfully designed package with extra perks and convenient unboxing, avoiding the damage issues experienced with collections like the Bond 50. This appears to be partly addressed by the additional features Amazon Prime Video introduced during their global James Bond Day celebration last fall.

Amazon-MGM Studios Needs To Define How They Want To Expand The 007 World
Now that it seems Barbara Broccoli’s dispute with Amazon-MGM may have been resolved, a multitude of creative proposals from studio executives could potentially come to fruition. On the more cautious side, conversations about the tone for Bond 26 might be smoother to navigate in the short term.
As for venturing into the realm of spin-offs, streaming shows, and so forth, this studio must consider if they should venture into such innovative concepts, known as “blue sky ideas.” Once proposals are narrowed down to those under serious consideration, the question then arises: will a hypothetical Moneypenny Diaries series be linked to or separate from the cinematic films?

The James Bond Brass Need To Consider If This Is A Reboot Or A Continuation
As a devoted fan of 007, I’ve often found myself pondering about the persistent speculation surrounding a potential reimagining of the films based on Ian Fleming’s original novels. Particularly intriguing is the idea of recreating the Cold War era depicted in novels such as “From Russia with Love”, with a truer reflection of their literary roots.
Leaving the books behind, there’s a possibility that Amazon-MGM Studios could draw inspiration from the explosive finale of No Time To Die and begin anew. Essentially, I’m urging the new guardians of the 07th Bond flame to take heed of the lessons from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Diamonds are Forever, focusing on maintaining the desired continuity while avoiding past mistakes.

A Decision Must Be Made About The James Bond Writing Team
Regardless if the path forward involves starting fresh or continuing with strategies from EON Productions’ James Bond film-making, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade will play a significant role in one of the key decisions to be made about the franchise. Since 1999’s “The World is Not Enough,” these writers have been instrumental in shaping 007’s escapades, contributing their expertise alongside any other writers who joined for a specific storyline.
It’s possible that the shift in location for the series might not affect things permanently. Ideally, I’d prefer Purvis & Wade to continue working on it long enough to pass the baton to a new crew, ensuring they grasp the history and context behind their work.

Martin Campbell Should Direct Bond 26
Martin Campbell, who has directed James Bond twice, has expressed multiple times that he’d be open to directing the character again, given the right opportunity. Whether this happens or not would depend on if those in power see fit to offer him the position, assuming Campbell can come up with an engaging concept for a new Bond adventure.
Given the indications that a more extensive remake may be underway than initially anticipated, it seems only right to give the director of both Goldeneye and Casino Royale another chance for a successful trilogy. Additionally, considering films like Cleaner and The Protégé, Campbell continues to demonstrate his knack for directing compelling action sequences.

Most Importantly, We Need A New James Bond Cast
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can confidently say that I didn’t miss any crucial details when anticipating the release of James Bond 26. It’s become clear over the past few years that a fresh face is needed to carry on the iconic role of 007, ushering in a new era for the franchise. But it’s not just about casting the new Bond; we need a new M, Moneypenny, and Q as well to round out the MI6 family and ensure a compelling narrative.
If those in control aren’t supporters of the gradual approach taken in the soft reboot of Daniel Craig’s James Bond movies, then it’s essential to have a new Bond character before moving forward. However, it’s hard to predict when we might start seeing progress toward introducing the next Bond, as we eagerly anticipate with cautious excitement and an open mind whenever that happens.
