This article reveals plot points from all six seasons of Cobra Kai. To avoid spoilers, make sure to catch up on the entire series by subscribing to Netflix.
After spending numerous years winning our affection, the series “Cobra Kai” has finally concluded its run. Though the show wrapped up its last season on Netflix’s 2025 schedule, actor Ralph Macchio‘s involvement in the Karate Kid universe remains far from finished. In tribute to his ongoing efforts, he shared with me a priceless nugget of wisdom attributed to Mr. Miyagi – and I absolutely adore it!
In a recent conversation, I was fortunate enough to chat with the star of Karate Kid: Legends about the most valuable advice Mr. Miyagi imparted. This piece of wisdom, I believe, is universally applicable and I’m eager to incorporate it into my own life soon. Let me share what Macchio shared with me, which revolved around that “walk left side” dedication.
When in doubt, opt for ‘Walk on the left or right – both safe options, walking straight ahead will result in getting squeezed like a grape. The reasoning behind this is that not making a choice, or wavering, is often the riskiest option. Whether it’s a decision you need to make, a place you’re going, a career path, or even choosing a friend, stick with your gut feeling and commit to that choice at the moment.
Macchio added that selecting a middle ground may allow for some adjustments in your choices, but it won’t help you uncover your true identity and passion in life – a crucial aspect of humanity. He also emphasized the importance of taking ownership, explaining to me that this self-possession element is equally significant.
You have the freedom to modify and align things as needed, but if you hesitate in the middle, chances are you won’t establish your identity clearly. In that case, you may be overshadowed or overlooked. Therefore, it’s essential to make decisions, stick with them, and take responsibility for them, even when they turn out to be mistakes. This is one of the lessons I often share and have found useful… a bit like something Master Miyagi might say.
To put it another way, what you’re saying resonates deeply with me. In essence, I’ve found myself reflecting on your words extensively – ever since first hearing them, in fact. It’s almost as if this advice was tailor-made for moments when I look back at my experiences in college and beyond. Frankly, I must confess that I didn’t always heed such guidance before. But the wisdom you’ve shared has been on my mind for a significant amount of time now.
In the world of Cobra Kai, it’s seldom that characters change their minds about their choices. Instead, they tend to commit fully, whether it’s during intense fight sequences, the ongoing rivalry between dojos, or joining forces to combat a larger threat like Kreese and Terry Silver – whose dramatic conclusion unfolded in Season 6.
Despite frequent conflicts throughout the show, Johnny and Daniel consistently managed to collaborate and reach consensus, eventually forging a strong friendship – a remarkable shift that came as a great adjustment to their initial dynamic.
Wondering about where Daniel’s karate journey takes him next in the Karate Kid universe? Although Cobra Kai continues to be a must-watch on Netflix, the upcoming series, Karate Kid: Legends, has me eagerly awaiting Daniel’s next steps this year. Plus, I can’t wait to discover more life lessons inspired by Miyagi, as they are certainly useful for me!
