Owen Wilson Tees Off in Hilarious New Sports Comedy ‘Stick’!

Actor Owen Wilson is stepping onto the golf course for the upcoming sports comedy titled “Stick“. This amusing series will be accessible on Apple TV+ starting June 4. The streaming platform has scheduled a release where three episodes will be launched simultaneously, followed by a new episode each Wednesday until the final and 10th episode premieres on July 23.

The images depict Pryce Cahill, previously a professional golfer whose career peaked then plummeted 20 years ago, played by Wilson in the series. In this show, he re-enters the golf world to guide Santi, a promising 17-year-old golfer portrayed by Peter Dager. As per the official synopsis, Cahill is stepping into this mentorship role at a challenging time in his life. His marriage has ended and he’s recently been let go from his job at an Indiana sports store.

Alongside Wilson and Dager, the cast also boasts Marc Maron (known from GLOW), Mariana Treviño (A Man Called Otto), Lilli Kay (Yellowstone), Judy Greer (Jurassic World), and Timothy Olyphant (Justified). Notable guest appearances are made by golfing greats like Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, and Wyndham Clark. Broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, as well as Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke, Garrett Clark, and Dan Rapaport from Good Good, also make appearances in this production.

Owen Wilson Is Taking a Swing at Another Comedic Role

In various comedic roles, Wilson has charmed his way through wedding receptions in “Wedding Crashers,” patrolled the streets as a laid-back detective in “Starsky & Hutch,” and caught attention as a globally recognized model in “Zoolander” and its 2016 follow-up. However, unlike the original, “Zoolander 2” was both panned by critics and struggled at the box office. Since then, he’s primarily been seen on superhero TV shows (like “Secret Agent,” “Loki”), some floppy romances (“Bliss,” “Marry Me”), and a couple of minor comedy projects (“Paint,” “Father Figures”), but it’s been a while since he had a major comedic success.

Wilson’s latest comedy venture, “Stick,” also marks his most recent significant TV role following his portrayal of Mobius M. Mobius in Marvel Studios’ “Loki” for two seasons. The MCU series is yet to be renewed for a third season (with Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum hinting, “there’s always a chance”), giving Wilson the opportunity to explore fresh projects and delve into diverse genres once more.

Wilson is probably aiming to achieve a hole-in-one with the show ‘Stick’, given his role as an executive producer alongside his acting part. Besides him, Jason Keller (the show’s creator and showrunner), Ben Silverman, Guymon Casady, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Drew Buckley, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, Christopher Moynihan, Bill Callahan, Valerie Faris, and Jonathan Dayton are also executive producers on the series.
