It seems as though Jack Quaid has been immersed in cinematic gore since he gained significant traction as an actor with “The Boys,” followed by “Scream” and his latest film, “Companion.” However, this blood-soaked path has been running through his career since its inception, as evident from his debut role in one of the “Hunger Games” movies. Reflecting on his initial screen appearance, Quaid expresses a sense of embarrassment!
Quaid starred in the very first Hunger Games movie, which came out in 2012, at the age of 19 as one of the tributes. When recalling the role to MTV with his Companion co-star Sophie Thatcher, he said this:
Initially, I commit the most abhorrent act, taking Rue’s life. Instantly afterward, Katniss swiftly strikes me in the chest. Yes, it’s not like a superhero from Marvel Comics. His name is indeed Marvel, and that’s significant. It’s a warning sign. That was undoubtedly the first time I met my end on screen – at the hands of Jennifer Lawrence.
It’s quite remarkable, isn’t it? Jack Quaid, being the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, kick-started his acting career in a truly memorable fashion. He portrayed a character whose death left an indelible mark on viewers – Rue from “The Hunger Games.” You may recall that Amandla Stenberg played this 14-year-old tribute who was the youngest contestant in the games. Quaid’s character, just seconds before Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss took him down, fatally struck Rue with a stake.
Over the course of several years, I’ve witnessed a shift in Quaid’s acting career from supporting roles to leading ones, which left many of us fans in awe, realizing it was him all along who had been part of that movie scandal. A particularly memorable moment for me recently was when Amandla Stenberg extended forgiveness to Quaid during our encounter at San Diego Comic-Con, both of us present at the same time. Here’s a look at his emotional response:

For quite some time, people showed their disapproval towards him publicly, but now those same actors have found harmony! Notably, they both starred in the top-rated TV shows simultaneously at one point. Last summer, Quaid reappeared on “The Boys,” and Stenberg was featured in “The Acolyte.” Since then, Quaid has met his demise in various movies, such as playing one of the Ghostface killers, possibly to counterbalance it. In his words:
All great people. Most of them, women. Here’s to many more.
