The first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” on Disney+ is almost here, but fans might not have to wait long for Season 2. Initial plans revealed in 2022 called for a full 18-episode season, which was later divided into two, nine-episode seasons. The first part is scheduled for release in 2025, marking ten years since the original “Daredevil” series premiered on Netflix. Although fans are accustomed to long waits between streaming shows and sometimes not even getting a second season, “Daredevil: Born Again” appears to usher in a new era, despite being a continuation of the “Daredevil” series that ran from 2015 to 2018.
According to Liam Crowley from Screen Rant, during a chat with Marvel Studios Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaum, it was revealed that “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2 is scheduled for release on Disney+ in the year 2026, following the premiere of Season 1. When queried about the commencement of production for Season 2, Winderbaum suggested that the intention is to make it an annual series, with him stating, “That’s the plan. Season 2 will be out next year.” Additionally, he mentioned that they are already contemplating a potential Season 3, suggesting that Daredevil could become one of Marvel Studios’ ongoing live-action streaming series rather than a miniseries like previous titles. Winderbaum further added, “I hope we can continue with Season 3 and seasons beyond that. I believe this world is brimming with stories, particularly on the streets of New York.
Marvel Television Is Also Being Born Again
The second season of “Daredevil: Born Again” is gearing up for filming, making the 2026 release date a plausible prospect. Given that it would air ten years after “Daredevil” Season 2, this timing seems fitting. Just as “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 1 is being broadcast a decade following the Netflix series’ first season, “Loki” was the first MCU live-action Disney+ series to receive a second season, but “Loki” Season 2 premiered two years after its conclusion. So far, the shortest gap between seasons of an MCU Disney+ series has been seen in “What If…?” with Season 2 and Season 3 airing just one year apart.
Marvel Television has begun reconsidering its television structure lately. Initially, when the MCU Disney+ shows debuted, they primarily focused on miniseries such as “WandaVision” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”. Critics argued that this format felt more like six-hour movies broken into six parts. For series like “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”, “Ms. Marvel”, and “Moon Knight”, this approach left some character arcs unresolved, causing uncertainty about their potential return. Now, Marvel is revising its television strategy as three series have been temporarily paused. Instead, they are now prioritizing shows that can span multiple seasons, ideally annually, to prevent fans from having to wait years to follow up on their beloved characters.
As a dedicated cinephile, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of “Daredevil: Born Again,” but the question lingers – will it grace our screens in March 2026 as originally speculated? If so, it would mark the last Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) title before “Avengers: Doomsday.” However, if it were to be released in May 2026, it would share the spotlight with Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man 4,” as one of the few confirmed MCU titles nestled between “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Despite Charlie Cox denying his involvement in the next “Avengers” movie, given Marvel’s emphasis on Matt Murdock as a recurring character throughout the Multiverse Saga, there’s a strong possibility that he might make a brief appearance in “Avengers: Doomsday” before taking center stage in “Avengers: Secret Wars.
