As a devoted fan, there are countless TV homes I yearn to discover – from Downton Abbey to the Red Keep, and even 742 Evergreen Terrace. Though I know they’re mostly sets on soundstages with exteriors of other houses, let’s indulge in our creativity for a moment and imagine the excitement of stepping into these iconic dwellings from my favorite shows.
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air
Absolutely, Uncle Phil and Aunt Bev’s residence was a crucial setting on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” The majority of the series unfolded within two main areas: the kitchen and living room, while other scenes were shot in various bedrooms or occasionally other locations. With such an iconic show, there’s certainly a lot more to explore!

The Addams Family
Who wouldn’t be intrigued by a home like the Addams family’s? It’s eerie yet fascinating, filled with mystery and a touch of the uncanny. There’s a disembodied hand roaming around, a hairy cousin, and an uncle who can illuminate light bulbs with his mouth! This is the sort of dwelling I’d love to delve deeper into!

Friends
There has been much discussion about the apartments on Friends and their lack of realism. While it might be true that they are unrealistic, they still exude an appealing charm, particularly Monica and Rachel’s apartment. As someone who spent years in a tiny apartment in the East Village, I can’t help but long to explore and fantasize about living in such a place, even if only in a surreal, dreamlike state.

Full House
The vividly colored Victorian houses known as the Painted Ladies in San Francisco are among the most famous homes across all of America. Therefore, it’s definitely worth taking a look at the Tanner residence on “Full House,” even if you wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to do so (of course, this is just a fictional setting!).

Succession
To put it straightforwardly, I find it challenging to appreciate the series “Succession” as much as others do, because I struggle to find a character I can truly support. The visual appeal of the Roy family’s estates and settings is undeniable, but as for the characters themselves, none seem deserving of my allegiance. Consequently, it appears that my loyalty lies with the fictional properties themselves.

Game Of Thrones
I’ve incorporated the Red Keep from “Game of Thrones” as an example, but essentially, it represents every castle, stronghold, and ancestral estate depicted on the series. They all have a striking appearance, and I’m particularly fond of old European castles. An architectural exploration of Westeros would be perfectly suited to my interests. Winterfell, Dragonstone, the Eyrie, Sunspear… they are all breathtaking. Even the remnants of Harrenhal would offer a fascinating experience for a short visit.

Gossip Girl
In contrast to the lavish lives portrayed in “Gossip Girl,” my existence was quite distinct when I resided in a tiny apartment in the East Village of New York City. Truth be told, each location has its own unique charm, and I’m eager to explore them all, as well as the stylish individuals who call them home.

Frasier
Frasier Crane resides in a condo that isn’t the most opulent ever showcased on TV, but it certainly appears quite stylish. Seattle is an enchanting city, and the vista from there would make a brief tour absolutely worth your while. To top it off, wouldn’t we all love to relax in Martin’s favorite armchair?

Diff’rent Strokes
The 1980s boasted a plethora of extravagant dwellings, and the Drummonds’ apartment on “Diff’rent Strokes” is nearly at the pinnacle. However, we were only given glimpses into this two-story New York residence, as most scenes took place in the living room, kitchen, or bedroom of Willis and Arnold. I can’t help but imagine a snug study hidden within its walls, adorned with a fireplace overflowing with ancient books and luxurious mahogany furniture!

Downton Abbey
Among the few fictional homes on this list, Downton Abbey stands out as one that visitors can step inside. In reality, it is called Highclere Castle and offers tours for the public. Not only can you wander the estate, but you can also visit numerous rooms featured in the show. I’m yet to go, but I hope to experience the tour someday.

Silver Spoons
Growing up in the ’80s, the Stratton mansion from “Silver Spoons” is one of the dream houses on my list. With a train in the living room, arcade games galore, and even a racing car bed, it had everything I could ask for and more. Although we only saw a few rooms on TV, there must have been plenty to discover!

Dynasty
In the 1980s, wealthy families often created dramatic scenes for public consumption on shows like “Dynasty”. This series was set in Denver, and the Carrington family resided in an extravagant mansion. Interestingly, the exterior shots of their home were actually filmed at a grand house in Pasadena known as Arden Villa.

Modern Family
The residence of Jay and Gloria Prichett on Modern Family perfectly encapsulates the title of the series. It’s contemporary, just the kind of home I enjoy exploring on Zillow. It may not be the largest or smallest, but it appears to be an incredibly cool, relatable house that would make for a fantastic week-long Airbnb rental.

Mork & Mindy
This TV home appears to be within my budget and a place I could potentially reside in. Located in Boulder, CO, where the show takes place, it’s a modest yet stylish house. Although Colorado real estate prices are generally high, this house remains quite appealing. The only thing that seems out of place is Mork (portrayed by Robin Williams).

The Munsters
In television lore, there aren’t many houses as legendary as the Munster family’s spooky abode from The Munsters. Despite my lack of interest in horror films, I can still admire the numerous references to classic monster movies that seem to be scattered throughout the house like hidden treasures. It’s a home that doubles as a museum of the unusual and bizarre.

The Brady Bunch
I have a strong fondness for Mid-Century Modern architectural designs, particularly homes. Among the many iconic examples, none stand out more in television lore than the house created by Mike Brady on The Brady Bunch. This house is not only a symbol of cool Mid-Century Modern style but also unique because almost every episode offers a peek into nearly every room. What remains intriguing and unexplored is where Alice, the housekeeper, resides – an aspect that adds to the mystery and fun of revisiting this classic show.

The Golden Girls
I have a strong fondness for those unusual Florida gated communities, like the one depicted in “The Golden Girls”, and I’d be thrilled to explore the house where the four retired roommates resided in that iconic NBC sitcom. It may not be the most luxurious or intriguing, but it’s the kind of relatable home that appeals to me.

The Sopranos
The house from “The Sopranos” stands out as something I dislike about houses, being a typical suburban McMansion. My intention would be to poke fun at it, although I understand that criticizing Carmela’s interior design or Tony’s residence in general could be seen as inappropriate. Still, I’m prepared to take the risk.

Mad Men
In a more relaxed phrasing, the apartment of Don Draper from Mad Men is truly impressive. Though it may not rank among the largest homes on this list, its impeccable representation of its era makes one yearn for an evening spent there, enjoying some jazz tunes and savoring a cigarette or two.

Dallas
Southfork Ranch is a genuine location that’s well-known in Dallas for hosting weddings and various events. This is where the Ewing family resided on the TV series, Dallas, and visiting the house can be an option. However, I’d love to time travel and witness it as the Ewings lived there (as depicted on the show). The ranch offers a wealth of sights to explore across its entire expanse.

The Simpsons
742 Evergreen Terrace is hardly the most lavish address, yet it carries an unmistakable charm. The house itself might not be the grandest on any list, but its iconic status resonates deeply. I can almost picture myself enjoying a Duff beer on the back porch as Homer lounges in his hammock, or sprawled out on the floor with Lisa and Bart, engrossed in the latest episode of Itchy & Scratchy. Maybe even lending a hand to Marge in the kitchen, preparing pork chops for dinner.

Dexter
Indeed, you should know that exploring Dexter’s apartment from the show “Dexter” might be quite unsettling and macabre. Remember, it’s important to bear in mind that this is purely a work of fiction, albeit one that portrays a disturbed and melancholic world.

Seinfeld
As a die-hard cinephile, I must say that Jerry’s humble abode on Seinfeld is undoubtedly one of the smallest homes on this list. It essentially boils down to an open-concept kitchen-living room space and Jerry’s bedroom – not exactly sprawling, but certainly cozy. Yet, what makes it intriguing are the quirky details that dot the background, such as Superman collectibles and an eclectic array of cereal boxes. While they may not be treasure troves worth exploring in a traditional sense, their charm is undeniable. And let’s not forget about Kramer’s apartment – who knows? He might just have his hot tub open there!

Charmed
Exploring the house on ‘Charmed’, much like some others, is primarily a means of discovering the intricacies of the lives of these three witches. Although the house itself is visually captivating, it’s the insight into their personal lives – when they aren’t battling supernatural beings – that truly engages us. It’s intriguing to catch a glimpse of their everyday life.

The Nanny
I can’t help but be captivated by those enormous apartments in New York City. It’s quite a departure from the usual urban living experience. The grandeur and comfortable lifestyle offered by multi-story residences within the city seems truly extraordinary, and the home showcased on “The Nanny” certainly fits the description of other such lavish dwellings.

Desperate Housewives
This write-up doesn’t focus on a single residence; instead, it encompasses the entire Wisteria Lane neighborhood as portrayed on Desperate Housewives. There isn’t anything exceptional about any individual house, but oh, what an extraordinary community to inhabit! My suburban road was nothing like this… or perhaps it was and I was simply unaware of its charm. Highly unlikely.

The Crown
In Netflix’s series The Crown, there are numerous authentic palaces and castles depicted, although none of the filming was done on-site. Among all these grand structures, Balmoral Castle in Scotland stands out as the most captivating and intriguing, as it is where Queen Elizabeth spent her final days in reality. This is the castle and its surroundings I long to explore.

Billions
Remarkably extravagant for a TV character’s home, Bobby Axelrod (Damien Lewis) on Showtime’s Billions boasts a beach house in the Hamptons that appears more like a luxurious country club or hotel than a private residence. It’s almost overwhelming; you could easily spend an entire month there without repeating the same room twice.

Ozark
As a cinephile who’s visited the Lake of the Ozarks numerous times, it’s no secret that it’s a blast, but it’s not exactly renowned for its architectural wonders. However, the Byrde residence in the series “Ozark” is an exception to this rule, a house so extraordinary, you wouldn’t expect to find it there. Interestingly, it’s inspired by a real-life property at Lake of the Ozarks. In fact, it’s one of the rare instances where the show mirrors reality. Notably, most of the filming for “Ozark” was done in Georgia.

Beverly Hills, 90210
Given my childhood spent tuning in weekly to Beverly Hills, 90210, this decision feels deeply rooted for me. The house has always struck me as incredibly appealing, and I can’t help but imagine spending leisurely moments among the Walshes.

Arrested Development
Absolutely! The house portrayed in Arrested Development might appear to be merely a model or cheaply built using plywood and gum, but it certainly offers an intriguing environment for a brief visit. You could search for George Michael in the loft, or even tally up the blue handprints adorning the walls – there’s always something new to discover. However, I wouldn’t dare tamper with that cornballer!

Falcon Crest
Back in the ’80s, one of the most extravagant wealthy families that graced our television screens was none other than the Channing/Gioberti dynasty from the series Falcon Crest. Though it’s not often brought up today, the lavish estate, nestled in a fictionalized Napa Valley, remains a sight to behold and deserves more recognition as the true showstopper. And while Jane Wyman delivers an outstanding performance on the show, let’s not forget that the grandeur of the Channing/Gioberti clan steals the limelight too.
