As I delve deeper into Invincible Season 3 on Prime Video, it seems we’re in for a thrilling ride with the introduction of a new, enigmatic antagonist named Conquest. It’s buzzing around that none other than Jonathan Banks from Breaking Bad will be lending his voice to this intriguing character, further beefing up an already impressive Season 3 lineup which includes Doug Bradley, Aaron Paul, Xolo Meriduena, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Kate Mara.
In the meantime, Mark Grayson, known as Invincible (portrayed by Steven Yeun), is still acclimating to maturity and his distinctive blue attire after a leap of a year. As Invincible persists in vanquishing the Viltrumite Empire and establishing harmony across the universe, he and his younger brother, Oliver Grayson, who goes by Kid Omni-Man (Christian Convery), encounter numerous new supervillains and age-old adversaries. Now, let’s introduce a long-awaited villain among comic enthusiasts: Conquest.
‘Invincible’ Season 3 Has Been a Hit
Read Our Review
In 2021, Robert Kirkman’s comic book series titled “Invincible” was brought to life by Prime Video as an adult animated superhero show. The story follows the journey of Mark Grayson (Yeun), a teenage boy in America whose father, Nolan Grayson (J.K. Simmons), was once known as Omni-Man, the world’s most revered superhero. However, Nolan’s reputation took a hit when he was accused of murdering The Guardians of the Globe, an elite superhero team responsible for protecting Earth from extraterrestrial threats, and engaging in a violent clash with his own son, Mark.
In the third season, I found myself stepping into a new, electrifying blue superhero outfit, reflecting a darker self and uncontrollable anger within me. The narrative also leapt forward, showcasing the growth of my half-brother, Oliver Grayson, or Kid Omni-Man as he’s known, played by Convery. Unlike my mixed human-Viltrumite lineage, Oliver is a unique Thraxan-Viltrumite hybrid, carrying the genetic code from both his mother, Andressa, portrayed by Rhea Seehorn, and his father, Nolan.
Who Is Conquest in the ‘Invincible’ Comics?
Conquest is a 5,000-year-old alien belonging to the Viltrumite species, resembling a tall human male. Often referred to as one of the second strongest warriors in the Viltrumite Empire, behind Thragg, this experienced soldier could potentially serve as a primary adversary in Invincible Season 3. Known for his ruthless nature and military discipline, the Viltrumite Empire aims to eradicate all other races across the universe to secure absolute dominance over the future.
Following the show’s witty sarcasm, Conquest does not align with the Viltrumite ideology of being the superior race. Instead, he exhibits an unquenchable thirst for violence and a fondness for intense battles, a trait that often leaves him battered and scarred. A psychopathic madman, this twisted supervillain derives pleasure from clashing with formidable opponents who inflict severe bodily harm on him. Consequently, he bears a significant scar on his face, and in place of his severed hand, he wields a cybernetic arm as his primary weapon.
As a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, Conquest also boasts the characteristic superpowers of the Viltrumites. These abilities encompass extraordinary speed, strength, endurance, toughness, flight, quick recovery, rejuvenation, slow aging, and near indestructibility. Yet, it’s important to note that all Viltrumites share a weakness: they are sensitive to high-pitched noises that can disturb their balance and confuse them.
Conquest’s Allies and New ‘Invincible’ Cast Members
With his superior, General Kregg, Conquest joins forces with a mix of new and familiar Viltrumite characters in Invincible. Among them are Emperor Argall, Anissa, Lucan, Thula, and Vidor. However, Conquest faces off against enemies such as Nolan, Invincible, Kid Omni-Man, Atom Eve, GDA personnel, Cecil Stedman, Donald Ferguson, and the leaders of the Coalition of Planets – Allen the Alien and Thadeus.
In addition to the conquest theme, a host of fresh characters grace the screens in Invincible‘s third season. Aaron Paul embodies Scott Duvall, also known as Powerplex, Kate Mara lends her voice to Becky Duvall, Xolo Meriduena portrays Fightmaster and Dropkick, Bokeem Woodbine takes on Director Radcliffe, and Kari Wahlgren brings Knucklebuster to life.
Powerplex serves as a secondary antagonist, driven by revenge following his sister Jessica’s demise at the hands of Invincible. His wife, Becky, stands by him, promising to safeguard their son Jack and prevent him from meeting a fate like Jessica. The twins Fightmaster and Dropkick were dispatched from the future to subdue a lunatic, which was eventually revealed to be the Immortal. Lastly, Knucklebuster is a member of a death cult who gets embroiled in a fierce brawl against Cecil during Season 3’s second episode titled “A Deal with the Devil.
With Season 3 of Invincible drawing to a close, viewers can anticipate that Invincible and Kid Omni-Man might confront enemies like Conquest, Powerplex, and the Viltrumite Empire. Additionally, our heroes will have to deal with Director Radcliffe, once a mentor at GDA, now turned villain after his defection. Don’t forget to catch up on Invincible on Prime Video!
