If you haven’t watched the third episode of Yellowjackets Season 3, beware as this discussion may contain spoilers. You’ll need a Paramount+ subscription to stream it. Enjoy!
Among the many enigmas that have left Yellowjackets viewers puzzled is the unidentified tormentor haunting Taissa, currently referred to as No-Eyes Man. In Season 2, no revelations were made concerning his background; however, the show creators appear to be focusing on uncovering the origins of this ominous figure. Remarkably, these origins seem to be linked to an ice cream parlor in New Jersey whose flavors are suggestive of popular bands from the 1990s and 2000s.

2. In Yellowjackets: The Four Characters Most Likely to Play the Role of Pit Girl
After experiencing a hallucination of No-Eyes Man outside the restaurant in Episode 2, Taissa was able to share her horror with someone else for the first time during “Them’s the Brakes.” One of Van’s old VHS tapes contained an advertisement for Ozzie’s Homemade Ice Cream, featuring a more human-like version of the character whose eyes seemed to pop out due to the extraordinary flavors offered by Ozzie. This was quite fittingly symbolic (or even overt, if you will).
However, the most intriguing moment in that peculiar advertisement was discovering a phone number for Ozzie, which I promptly halted the show to dial. To my delight, the number functioned, and it offered approximately two minutes of chilling background details, much like the phone call to Lottie’s Wellness Community in Season 2.

What Happened When I Called Ozzie’s Phone Number
Luckily, my suspicion of no one picking up the call was swiftly dispelled by a recorded message. The first speaker had a remarkably clean-cut voice, reminiscent of any character Jack McBrayer, a 30 Rock veteran, has played. However, he’s not the only voice we come across in this recording.
It seems like a temporal flaw might have disrupted the original message, causing intermittent malfunctions that undeniably make it difficult to follow. Initially, the light-hearted employee sent an old-fashioned message, but then the more contemporary (and decidedly ominous) tone of someone seemingly prepared for catastrophe abruptly took over.
Greetings! Indeed, you’re speaking about Ozzie’s, the well-known homemade ice cream shop located along Route 9. Regrettably, as of now, our scoops are no longer available due to some issues, our pie plates have unfortunately cracked, and we regretfully announce that our doors will remain closed permanently after 34 years in business.
As the story unfolds, it’s clear that Ozzie’s eventually shut its doors, leaving behind a building that resembled the eerie shell of a “Five Nights at Freddy’s” location. However, there was more to the call than just this revelation. Here are some of the ice cream flavors mentioned by both parties on the call, along with references to various musical acts (some of which may be incorrect, so please bear with me).
Again, I apologize for any inaccuracies in the musical act references.
* Chocolatey Monkey: This flavor was compared to The Beatles.
* Banana Split: Compared to Elvis Presley’s “Blue Suede Shoes.”
* Strawberry Shortcake Sundae: Associated with Cher’s song, “Believe.”
* Mint Chocolate Chip Twist: Linked to the Rolling Stones and their hit, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
* Vanilla Swirl: Compared to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”
* Rocky Road: Mentioned in relation to AC/DC’s famous song, “Highway to Hell.”
* Neapolitan: Connected to Frank Sinatra and his classic tune, “My Way.”
* Cookie Dough Delight: Linked to The Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations.”
* Pineapple Upside Down Sundae: Compared to Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville.”
* Peachy Keen: Associated with The Eagles’ “Hotel California.
- Smashed Pumpkins (Smashing Pumpkins)
- Cranberry Dream (The Cranberries’ 1993 track “Dreams”)
- Friends of Peach (??)
- Hot Dog Water (Possibly reference to Limp Bizkit’s Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog-Flavored Water)
- Regret (Possibly referencing New Order’s ’93 single “Regret” or the punk band No Regret)
- Shrimp (??)
- Cigarette Ash (??)
- My [??] Valentine (My Bloody Valentine)
- Mighty Mighty Boston Cream Pie (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones)
It seems Ozzie has never presented unusual flavors such as Hot Dog Water and Cigarette Ash. Is this merely an employee’s humorous take, or are they venturing into eccentricity? Given the strange suggestions, I lean towards the latter, as their ideas seem to stray far from the norm.
Time is peculiar, with its ability to make a fleeting instant feel as solid as a monument, even as it slips through our fingers like sand on the beach, vanishing without a trace. All that we’ve experienced to reach this point, the constant spinning, mixing, and sweetening, all frozen in the darkness.
I’m somewhat uncertain if that’s the exact phrase, but even a slight variation in words wouldn’t alter its general meaning to be considered completely rational and logical.
Reflecting on our conversation, a key question that arises is: “Who among us seems to be the most tormented voice?” Could it possibly belong to the enigmatic No-Eyes Man, whose voice we haven’t yet directly encountered? Or perhaps someone else, deeply scarred by the dark events that transpired at Ozzie’s in its troubled past?
It’s important to mention: When I first contacted Ozzie’s, a recorded voice requested me to leave a message, which I did. However, when I attempted to call again, it seemed like that part of the message was skipped, although it might be a situation that occurs only for repeat callers.

Is The No-Eyes Man Real Or A Manifestation Of Tai’s Trauma?
Although the ’90s-era commercial and phone message provided additional details about No-Eyes Man, they did not explicitly link this mysterious figure to Tawny Cypress’ troubled senator character. Even Tai, who is investigating the case, is still puzzled and immersed in confusion, just like the fans.
It’s clear that Tai connects the eyeless figure to her grandmother’s home, as she recalls seeing him in a mirror on at least one instance. Similarly, when discussing things with Van, she brings up this connection once more.
Wow, it looks like I encountered this advertisement as a child, featuring a man without eyes. And tragically, my grandmother passed away around that time.
The question now shifts: Is No-Eyes Man a real character (either supernatural or otherwise), intentionally tormenting the ex-athlete, or is the vision simply a way for Tai to cope with some past trauma or tragedy that happened before her grandmother passed away? For instance, if she experienced physical or emotional abuse during the time when it was broadcast on TV, or if she endured similar mistreatment while at one of Ozzie’s locations.
It’s possible that Tai had an encounter with the actor who portrayed the blind man in Ozzie’s commercial at some stage, which has since distorted her perception of him. This could account for why he appears completely human in the advertisement and wears either a mask or prosthetics in Tai’s delusions.
Regardless of the reasons behind everything, I’m completely captivated by discovering who No-Eyes Man truly is in this gripping tale, and why Taissa can’t help but ponder him constantly. Therefore, I’ll be tuning in to new episodes every Friday on Paramount+, and catching them on Showtime every Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. ET.
