As a passionate cinephile, I must say that the premier of Season 2 for “1923” took a heartfelt moment to honor the late and talented Cole Brings Plenty. He made his remarkable entrance on our screens as Pete Plenty Clouds in the initial season of the highly praised spin-off of “Yellowstone.” A black-and-white photograph capturing him in character attire was tastefully presented during the opening credits, under a somber “In Memoriam” title card – a poignant tribute indeed.
In April 2024, at age 27, Brings Plenty was tragically found deceased. At that time, reports suggested he had gone missing following a police investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident. Later, his uncle, Mo Brings Plenty (famous for his role as Mo in Paramount’s popular drama Yellowstone) shared a statement from Brings Plenty’s father, Joe, on Instagram, confirming the sad news and expressing heartfelt thanks for everyone’s “supportive prayers and thoughts” during the search for his son.
With a heavy heart, I must share tragic news: my son, Cole, has been found, but he’s gone. We’re immensely grateful for the prayers and supportive thoughts that were sent in his direction. A special thank you goes out to everyone who joined us on our journey to find Cole, offering assistance and resources to expand our search. This week, I discovered just how many people recognized the kindness in Cole’s soul. As we navigate this painful period, we ask for privacy so we can grieve and plan our next steps. Rest assured that your compassion is felt and your patience is appreciated.
Who Plays Pete in ‘1923’ Season 2?
In the TV series 1923, Jeremy Gauna has taken over the character previously played by Pete, who was a part of another Yellowstone prequel, 1883. The cast, including Aminah Nieves who plays Teonna Rainwater, have endorsed this change, as they believe it is the most fitting tribute to the late actor. Nieves also praised Gauna for handling the role transition with such poise and dignity under difficult circumstances.
Instead of being filled with resentment, anger, and pain, I chose a different path. Although those feelings were initially present, I eventually shifted my focus towards remembering the wonderful person that Coco was. He’s my brother, and we shared many conversations about this very topic. His spirit remains with us every day. He was overjoyed to be part of something so significant. Instead of wallowing in sadness, I decided to honor him by uplifting Jeremy Gauna for stepping up to shoulder such a heavy burden. It’s an immense responsibility to follow in Coco’s footsteps, and yet, Jeremy did it with grace.
The second installment of 1923 resumes, with Teonna embarking on a perilous journey following her act of self-defense against an abusive nun at the Indian residential school. Accompanied by her father, Runs His Horse (Michael Spears), and Pete, her romantic interest, they tread carefully to evade the relentless pursuit of Father Renaud (Sebastian Roché) and the remorseless Marshal Kent (Jamie McShane). It appears their path will lead them through a dangerous game of hide-and-seek.
Keep yourself updated with the newest developments in the Dutton family storyline by catching up with the Season 2 debut of 1923, available for streaming now on Paramount+. Each week, a fresh episode will be released every Sunday until the season finale on Apr. 13.
