One delightful aspect of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher books is that you don’t have to read them in sequence to appreciate them. Similarly, while the initial season of Reacher on Prime Video was inspired by Child’s first novel, subsequent seasons have been based on later books in the series – the second on the 11th book, “The Enemy”, and the third on the seventh one, “Persuader”. Now, the show’s creator has hinted at which book he’d most like Amazon to adapt should the series continue its success.
In a conversation with The Independent about the Reacher series, Child referred to “The Midnight Line” as one of his favorite books because it focuses on the topic of opioids. Instead of portraying the opioid crisis through the lens of dealers and corrupt doctors, he chose to narrate the story from an addict’s perspective.
In an effort to empathize with those battling addiction, I wished to share my perspective as a fellow struggler, and I’m genuinely proud of a book that speaks to this shared experience.
“The child pondered if it would eventually be produced.” We’ll have to wait and see which one we pick, but I can’t wait to find out how it turns out. Released in 2017, The Midnight Line sold over 100,000 copies within its first few weeks on the market, and once again, Reacher is found in the heartland, entangled in the dark world of illegal opioids. “Jack Reacher ambles aimlessly past a pawn shop in a small Midwestern town,” the description starts off, continuing:
Peering into a window, I spot a West Point class ring from 2005 – a miniature emblem of resilience and perseverance. It’s strange to see such a symbol discarded, especially since I too am a graduate of the prestigious academy. The thought of a fellow West Pointer abandoning this hard-earned token stirs something within me. I embark on a journey, following the trail of this ring, step by step, through a dark and winding criminal path that leads me to the desolate landscapes of Wyoming. I yearn for nothing more than to find the woman who once wore this ring. If she’s safe, I’ll leave without a trace. But if she’s in trouble…I will relentlessly pursue justice until the very end.
‘Reacher’ Season 3 Is Another Hit
Starting on February 20, 2025, it appears that Reacher Season 3 is shaping up to be another success for Amazon Prime Video, particularly in terms of critical praise. As of now, the viewership numbers for the first three episodes have yet to be disclosed; however, on Rotten Tomatoes, the latest season has already been awarded the “Certified Fresh” badge with a 97% rating from critics, and its audience score currently stands at an impressive 78%, based on fan reviews.
In their respective reviews, MovieWeb’s Greg Archer deemed it as the top-notch entry in the series, while Greg MacArthur from Screen Rant praised season 3 for delivering another round of sharp twists, clever humor, palpable tension, and exciting action with larger threats and deeper tones. Anton W, a Rotten Tomatoes user, expressed that the first three episodes of season 3 have surpassed the past seasons significantly, and Mark D mentioned that he started watching only part of Episode 1 but ended up watching all the way through to the end of Episode 3.
Similar to the preceding two seasons, Reacher Season 3 consists of a total of 8 episodes. Currently, you can stream 3 of these episodes, with the rest being released weekly until the finale on March 27th. Keep an eye out for the remaining ones!
