A Voice Contestant’s Daughter Got Kelsea Ballerini’s Name Wrong, And It Was The Cutest Thing I’ve Ever Seen On This Show

Caution: This review may contain minor spoilers for ‘The Voice’ Season 27 episode that aired on February 24. If you haven’t watched it yet, you can watch it on Peacock to stay updated! As a movie enthusiast, I found this latest episode of The Voice truly captivating. Let me walk you through my thoughts.

In Season 27 of “The Voice”, teams are being filled as the fourth round of Blind Auditions was broadcast on the 2025 TV schedule. We’ve witnessed some extraordinary artists, yet it’s intriguing that some of the most memorable moments have stemmed from performances by contestants’ children. For instance, a former finalist recently made a comeback for his daughter’s audition, and on February 24, I was touched by the sweetest moment I’ve ever seen when a young child left Kelsea Ballerini contemplating a name change after an endearing mispronunciation.

Adam Levine might boast an edge from multiple victorious seasons, but Kelsea Ballerini has kept pace in her inaugural season as a lead mentor. When country artist Robert Hunter stepped onto the stage to perform “‘Til You Can’t,” featuring Cody Johnson’s song, Ballerini swiftly swiveled her chair and cautioned the others not to vie for him. Michael Bublé disregarded this advice, though, and Hunter made a bold move by inviting his wife and daughter Mary Blake on stage to help him decide which team to join.

It wasn’t a difficult choice to make. As soon as the little girl spotted Kelsea Ballerini, her face brightened, and when Robert Hunter inquired about Mary Blake’s favorite singer, she sweetly identified her favorite artist.

Kelsea Ballerina.

Everyone, including the coaches, were left in a state of surprise. The crowd erupted with joy as Michael Bublé stood up, beaming at Kelsea Ballerini. John Legend rose from his seat and approached the newest coach, exclaiming, “Oh, my goodness! Oh, my goodness!

The country music star’s performance reached a new high when a contestant asked his daughter about her favorite song, prompting Mary Blake to sing “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)”. Overwhelmed, Kelsea Ballerini couldn’t resist any longer and joined in the singing, rushing onto the stage for an emotional hug with the young girl.

Michael Bublé didn’t let his disappointment show much when he couldn’t introduce the artist afterwards, since he had just witnessed an alleged “most endearing moment.” I must concur with this assessment. Backstage, Kelsea Ballerini was still floating on cloud nine due to her charming fan’s admiration.

Is it possible for us to discuss what transpired? Robert’s daughter made an excellent decision. It seems she referred to herself as ‘Kelsea Ballerina,’ which has led me to consider changing my name accordingly. Even if she had said ‘Broccoli,’ I would have adopted that name instead.

I delight in the fact that the family cherishes this joyful memory, and who knows what exciting experiences lie ahead for Robert Hunter once he embarks on his journey through The Voice? You can check out his heartwarming audition video below, with his daughter making an appearance at the 5-minute mark.

In the Season 27 debut, a heartwarming scene unfolds after an unexpected twist: Bryan Olesen, John Legend’s finalist from Season 25, revisits his familiar surroundings to witness 23-year-old Jadyn Cree participate in the singing competition. Unlike Mary Blake, she opted for Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé’s guidance, ultimately choosing the mentorship of the “Just Haven’t Met You Yet” singer.

It’s unlikely we’ll find anything sweeter than the contestant’s child mispronouncing Kelsea Ballerini’s name, but I’m excited for any family-oriented fun and great singing that’s coming up. Don’t miss the final night of Blind Auditions at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, March 3, only on NBC, or catch it the next day on Peacock.
