Recently, John Abraham expressed his disapproval towards some stars for demanding excessive payment. He acknowledged the current predicament faced by the industry and underscored the importance of focusing more on the quality of content instead of celebrity worth.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, John Abraham expressed concerns about the financial strain the film industry is experiencing due to exorbitant actor fees. He explained, “Currently, Hindi cinema is struggling. Instead of paying actors such large sums, we should be compensating them for their work in films. Our budgets are enormous and don’t warrant these huge payments. The fees we receive are excessive, and we can’t afford to bring along an entourage or cover additional costs. It’s absurd.
Speaking as a die-hard fan, I can’t help but ponder if these talented actors themselves share my perspective or if their representatives steer them down different paths. It’s mind-boggling to think that we, the creators and performers, could be living in such a bubble that we might not fully grasp reality as it unfolds. The entertainment industry is going through some tough times, he emphasized, and it’s really hitting us hard.
The actor from Dilpomat went on to advise reducing personal expenses and paying attention when a director says they’re overpriced for their requested fee. He believes comparing oneself to other actors and disclosing fees is counterproductive, as he expressed his opinion.
John suggests that actors ought to understand the current predicament in the industry and instead of just acting on-screen, they should also focus on contributing behind the scenes in filmmaking. He expressed this sentiment by saying, “Actors should acknowledge that if a movie generates profits, then we reap benefits because our earnings stem from those profits. How much longer will you continue to drain the system? This is the question that needs to be asked.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to clarify my thoughts regarding the film industry. While it’s true that actors can command high fees, it’s essential not to lay all the blame on them. Producers who are ready to pay such sums exist as well. Instead of focusing on proposals or financial aspects, I firmly believe in creating content-driven films. The essence and quality of the film should always take precedence over any individual star power. No matter how big a name an actor may be, they cannot guarantee a film’s success at the box office – the content is king.
In summary, he emphasized that studios often hesitate to back actors who aren’t already well-known, preferring to stick with proven talent. This, he suggested, is another reason why the film industry might not be advancing as quickly as it could.
John Abraham’s The Diplomat will be released on March 14, 2025.
