Originally slated for a November 2024 premiere, but later pushed back to 2025, the film Dhadak 2 featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri was initially planned. However, there were rumors it might debut during this year’s Holi weekend. Recent speculation, though, suggests that the movie is encountering difficulties in obtaining CBFC certification due to its sensitive caste-related subject matter. If it manages a Holi release, it would be going head-to-head with John Abraham’s The Diplomat, which has also been rescheduled for an unspecified date.
Previously, T-Series announced that John Abraham’s film “The Diplomat,” originally slated for a March 7 premiere, is now scheduled for March 14 in theaters. If Dhadak 2 happens to be released over the Holi weekend, it could collide with the thriller drama at the box office during the festive occasion. However, as Holi is only three weeks away, there’s no sign of promotions for Dhadak 2 starting yet.
A reliable insider told Bollywood Hungama that Dhadak 2 explores caste conflicts in a powerful storyline. The Examining Committee of the Central Board of Film Certification admires the producers for addressing such an important topic, but they are presently assessing the film’s rating and considering possible edits to certain scenes due to their sensitive nature.
According to a trade insider, the producers of Dhadak 2 are focusing on wrapping up the censorship procedure first before launching promotions. Their goal is to dodge announcing a release date and then encountering certification complications. If the CBFC issues approval by the specified deadline, the movie might come out on March 14; otherwise, it could be rescheduled. A definitive choice will likely be made within the following 5-10 days.
A behind-the-scenes expert raised doubts about the challenges being experienced by the movie featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, proposing that because it shares a similar narrative as Pariyerum Perumal, it might not face troubles if the original film didn’t encounter any problems in the first place.
For those not familiar, the 2018 movie Dhadak delved into a comparable theme, portraying a romantic tale between a boy from a lower caste and a girl from an upper caste. This film starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter and was a re-telling of the successful Marathi production Sairat.
