📺 Heads up! I’m about to reveal some spoilers for Episode 13 of CBS’ thrilling series, FBI: International, titled “You’ve Been Greenlit”. If you’re a fan like me and want to catch it without any surprises ruined, be sure to tune in the next day with your Paramount+ subscription!
As a movie buff, I can tell you that when I first saw FBI: International, it became clear that things weren’t as simple for Agent Riley Quinn in Budapest as they initially seemed. While the Fly Team believed she was there to tackle a specific case and then lend a hand, little did they know her true purpose: she had been dispatched with a mission that made her more of a spy than a team member. The section chief from the Bureau’s Inspection Division wanted dirt on Wes, and Riley was tasked with providing it if she hoped to assist her brother with his troubles at the ATF.
In the latest episode, “You’ve Been Greenlit,” Riley (played by Veronica St. Clair from La Brea) chose to stand up for Wes and reveal the true motive behind her presence. I’m relieved that she wasn’t torn about this decision for a single episode. From her debut, it was evident that she was an effective agent, and the inner conflict of deceiving the Fly Team was palpable. However, it wasn’t until her video call with her brother that I truly believed she would confess before the end of “You’ve Been Greenlit.
Reflecting on Riley’s situation from the last episode, where she stood up for her brother who was falsely accused by someone within his unit, someone she believed he trusted, I assumed their personalities would be quite alike. However, in “You’ve Been Greenlit,” I was taken aback when Riley seemed to lose his cool towards me, simply because I acknowledged feeling like a snitch on the Fly Team. His response was:
You aren’t like a rodent. They’re trying to teach your brother a lesson by making an example out of him, and I won’t be going to prison over this nonsense. So, whatever Inspections wants from you, you need to comply with their demands.
Riley gently pointed out to him that she needed to uncover any potential wrongdoing first before she could present anything, and pondered whether the Head of Inspections might have been mistaken about Wes stepping over boundaries or breaking laws. This seemed to agitate her brother, who launched into a passionate speech:
Could I inquire about something important, Riley? It seems your concern at the moment is either for this agent you’ve interacted with for just three days or someone closer to you, like a brother. Considering all the support I’ve provided you, in places like Fort Lauderdale and Boise, shouldn’t you return the favor now, given that this could be our only chance? If things unfold a certain way, I might face federal charges. This could mean we may never cross paths again. However, feel free to make your own decisions, as always. Just keep in mind that my current predicament requires your help.
Riley didn’t prepare for what turned out to be a rather manipulative visit! Her brother gave clear signs of there being more hidden aspects in Riley’s past, apart from his issues with the ATF, but what struck me most is how rapidly and intensely he steered the conversation, which suggests multiple warning signals. To top it off, he ended the call abruptly!
Amidst feeling trapped like a mouse under her boss, being pulled by a sense of obligation from her brother, and the unwavering support of the Fly Team, including an invitation for pancakes from Wes – it would have been unusual if Riley hadn’t chosen to align with the Budapest group.
It’s unclear if there is a means of escape from this predicament for Riley… or Wes, to be precise. Although her testimony cleared his name concerning the shooting incident from “You’ve Been Greenlit,” there are still valid concerns about her past actions following Wes’ involvement in Paris after Vo was shot. Furthermore, Riley has already reported these issues up the FBI chain of command.
To clarify, her choice to step away from the Fly Team doesn’t imply she’s giving up on her brother’s cause. Instead, I find myself growing more intrigued by the developing narrative surrounding Jay Hayden, particularly in his new role post-Station 19.
This version maintains the original meaning while using simpler and more conversational language to make it easier to read.
It turns out we, along with other fans of FBI: International, have an additional week to speculate about what happens next after Riley confessed to Vo that she’s in a difficult situation. Regrettably, none of the shows, including International, FBI, and FBI: Most Wanted, will air new episodes until March 11, which is on Tuesday. Interestingly, CBS did not renew International or Most Wanted as part of their recent batch of renewals, making only FBI a certainty for returning beyond the 2024-2025 TV season at this point in time.
