Pokémon Champions is the Stadium Successor We’ve All Been Waiting For

The brand-new cross-compatible game “Pokémon Champions” is now available on Nintendo Switch and smartphones. Game Freak is managing the project, with The Pokemon Works handling its development. This upcoming title appears to be a revamped edition of the much-loved Stadium and Colosseum games from the past, which could make it a highly popular choice among fans if executed skillfully.

The information provided about the game is limited, but they did demonstrate its evolution from intense combat on Game Boy systems to being available on Switch and smartphones. Eventually, gameplay footage of Champions was shown, with a Nintendo Switch player competing against a mobile gamer. Graphically, it appears to be one of the more visually appealing games in this series as it concentrates solely on battles.

It’s undecided whether Pokémon Champions will be a free-to-play game like its predecessors on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms. However, it does seem to be compatible with Pokémon Home, allowing players to transfer their creatures from Scarlet and Violet. The similarity to the Stadium games is evident, which is a positive aspect.

If you’re new to the series, let me tell you that Stadium games were all about 3D battles, offering an exciting first glimpse of fully 3D Pokémon back then. What truly set these games apart was the ability for players to utilize their party from the Game Boy games. This means that the hard-earned Raichu you nurtured could now be admired in stunning N64 3D graphics.

Regrettably, a launch date for Pokémon Champions hasn’t been announced yet, so we’ll have to wait and see when this innovative game will be available on Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms. It’s somewhat unexpected to find them returning to an older style of spinoff, particularly one that’s coming to both Switch and mobile devices. Previously, we’ve had New Pokémon Snap and the remake of Mystery Dungeon, but these games seem rather outdated by now.
