Fox Hires Pete Distad to Run Its New Streaming Platform

Former Venu CEO Pete Distad will lead Fox’s new direct-to-consumer streaming platform. 

Starting next up, Distad is set to take on the CEO position for an as-yet unnamed platform. This platform is expected to feature channels like Fox News, Fox Sports, and the Fox broadcast network. In his new role, Distad will be overseeing his work to Paul Cheesbrough, who currently holds the title of CEO at Tubi Media Group.

Cheesbrough is excited to announce that Pete, an accomplished leader with significant expertise in consumer goods, has joined our team to oversee our latest platform. His impressive history of creativity, implementation, and creation of top-tier streaming products is self-explanatory, and we have high expectations that under his guidance, we will provide a top-notch service that highlights Fox’s exceptional content and brands.

Previously unnamed, Distad steps into his position following the appointment as head of Venu Sports – a sports-centric streaming platform initially conceived by The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox Corporation. Despite official announcements about its launch, Venu Sports never materialized due to legal challenges posed by Fubo, DirecTV, and Echostar.

Prior to joining his current position at Venu, Distad had a decade-long stint at Apple. During this tenure, he managed the business, operations, and global distribution for video, sports, and Apple TV+. Earlier in his career, Distad was part of the initial Hulu launch team and held the role of senior vice president of marketing and distribution within the executive team.

Distad is thrilled to debut Fox’s top sports, news, and entertainment material on a brand-new streaming service for the first time, making it accessible to viewers beyond the typical pay TV package. By collaborating closely with our content providers, distribution networks, and technology partners, we aim to establish and expand an exclusive viewing experience that lets consumers easily enjoy their favorite Fox shows.
