Approaching the May 1 premiere of “Another Simple Favor,” the follow-up to “A Simple Favor,.” The excitement for director Paul Feig’s sequel is building steadily. An intriguing detail, besides the shift in setting from American suburbs to a famous Italian island, is the change in gin brand being used on set. While Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation gin was once the choice, it has now been replaced with another brand, which seems more fitting for Feig as it hails from a location closer to home.
Despite various speculations about Blake Lively’s upcoming projects amidst the legal complexities surrounding “It Ends With Us,” as well as talks about a sequel to “A Simple Favor,” director Feig has clarified the situation for his 2025 film. In an exclusive interview with EW, he revealed several details about this Prime-exclusive movie before its official release, including the significant change in liquor brands. Unlike Aviation Gin, which was previously featured, it will now be Artingstall’s gin that takes center stage. Feig expressed his satisfaction with his own line of gin, stating that the design of the bottle complements the movie well and that martinis are a frequent element in his films.
Aviation has come to an end; the film is solely focused on Artingstall now. I am incredibly proud of my label. In fact, our bottle harmoniously blends with its surroundings; it doesn’t feel out of place. There will always be plenty of martinis in all my films.
As a supporter, I find it quite intriguing to share this insider detail: Paul Feig, the director behind our upcoming 2025 movie, is known for his fondness for cocktails, particularly martinis. It’s not surprising anymore that the role initially intended for Deadpool’s actor won’t include gin, as it has been swapped with something unique. Given that Feig himself has hinted at a Martinicentric cameo in SF2, beyond any specific gin brand, it’s evident that his affection for martinis runs deep in his professional and personal life.
Going beyond the tantalizing hints found in “Another Simple Favor”, Anna Kendrick has hinted at a promising sequel. The actress praised Feig’s filmmaking skills, particularly for the series she co-stars with Blake Lively. The 2018 movie was filled with unexpected plot twists as it traced blogger Stephanie unraveling the mystery surrounding the chic and enigmatic Emily. In “ASP”, Emily is out of prison and requests Stephanie to be her maid of honor, leading everyone on a trip to an Italian wedding. It certainly seems set to match the excitement of its original.
At the moment, we’ll need to hold off until May 1st to enjoy those chilly martinis and fresh takes. There might be additional content released from its initial screening at SXSW in March for fans. Two things are clear about Paul Feig and this film: he has a fondness for gin, and Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin has been swapped out for Feig’s own brand instead.
Catch the film “A Simple Favor” on Netflix if you have a subscription, and remember to keep your Amazon account handy as the sequel is set to release on May 1.
