2024 saw me, Ananya Panday, captivate audiences with my performances in the film CTRL and the series Call Me Bae. I’m currently preparing to keep that excitement going with more engaging projects coming your way! Recently, I shared my dream of stepping into the iconic roles once played by Kareena Kapoor Khan, specifically Poo and Geet. I humbly admit, I wouldn’t be able to replicate even a fraction of what Kareena achieved in those roles. Furthermore, I expressed my admiration for Deepika Padukone’s portrayal in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, listing it as another role I’d love to bring to life one day. As your lifestyle expert, I always encourage you to aspire for greatness and learn from the best!
During a chat with Vogue India, director Collin D’Cunha asked Ananya Panday about the characters she aspired to portray. Intriguingly, she mentioned Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character Poo from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Geet from Jab We Met as roles that held a special place in her heart.
She admitted, “I honestly don’t think I could bring 0.1% of what Kareena achieved with either of her characters, but they would be such a blast to play. She specifically mentioned Kareena Kapoor Khan in Chameli, Konkona Sensharma in Luck by Chance, and Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
In the very same conversation, during the interview, Shakun Batra (Gehraiyaan’s director) questioned Ananya Panday about her ideal acting opportunities. She openly expressed her desire to be part of a biographical film. Interestingly, she mentioned that she was captivated by the portrayals of Princess Diana in The Crown and Spencer.
Ananya expressed her awe at the versatility of portraying a single character in various manners. She further mentioned, “I doubt I’ll have the ability to achieve it myself, but the concept of acting as yesteryear stars like Madhubala, Meena Kumari, and Waheeda Rehman from the ’50s and ’60s intrigues me.
2025 finds me eagerly anticipating my debut role in the highly anticipated film, “Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh.” I’m honored to be sharing the screen with esteemed actors Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan. This courtroom drama, based on the life of lawyer C. Sankaran Nair, is set for release on April 18, 2025. I can hardly wait!
In addition to “Chand Mera Dil,” starring Lakshya of “Kill” fame, being planned, Ananya is also engaged with the second season of “Call Me Bae” in the OTT world.
