The dust that graced the horizon yesterday has transformed into a frenzy today, as Monster Hunter Wilds has officially been released. We’re all struggling to breathe due to sand being kicked up everywhere. The game has peaked at an astounding 987,000 players on Steam, and my social media feeds are nothing but Rathalos roars. This is indeed a massive event!
However, what timid creatures seem to dwell in the disturbed soil beneath Capcom’s footsteps? While other games still thrive, some of them unfortunately emerge from their hiding places at the exact moment when a more terrifying monster is on the loose. Here are 4 recently released games that you might want to consider if you prefer avoiding the big beasts.
Faceminer
FACEMINER Release Date Trailer
Introduced yesterday, Faceminer is a chilling clicker game that revolves around surreptitiously gathering as much personal data as possible about individuals on the internet. As described by creators Wristwork, it’s a “spooky narrative-driven incremental management simulation” where you control a system reminiscent of Windows 95. Upon trying the demo, Nic tampered harmlessly with the computer’s Winamp-esque music player, but soon found himself gripped by a growing sense of techno-unease. I direct your attention to his account of the experience.
“What it lacks in novelty, it makes up for in sheer ominousness. Also, I’m incentivised to do it well, because the game informs me I’m in my ‘employee trial period’. I move through ‘filtered suspicious faces’ to ‘unsorted political operatives’. I click, and my money goes up, and that is how I know this is a worthwhile endeavor, despite the sinking feeling in my gut.”
PGA Tour 2K25
PGA TOUR 2K25 Official Gameplay Trailer I 2K
This game is golf, and it’s quite pricey, with a well-known publisher involved. Today saw the release of PGA Tour 2K25, implying that 2K feels confident launching their sports title alongside Capcom’s massive reptilian behemoth. It seems that the circles of golf enthusiasts and monster hunters barely intersect, but Steam takes a different viewpoint. In the section asking “Is this game relevant to you?”, the store claims this golf game shares similarities with at least one other game I’ve played – Monster Hunter Worlds. Interesting.
Elite Dangerous: Trailblazers
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but get excited about the substantial update to our beloved space sim saga. The innovative expansion, Trailblazers, offers a unique opportunity for space explorers like me to establish dominion over entire star systems and construct the orbital stations, refineries, and planetary outposts that we’ve always dreamed of managing, particularly in uncharted territories.
The developers have generously provided a comprehensive guide on the intricate process of creating our very own frontier spaceport. As someone who once piloted cargo ships across the cosmos, the prospect of building and governing my own space empire is nothing short of irresistible.
Transform your system into an entry point to the unexplored – a prime location for your ventures across the cosmos, they suggest. This could attract Commanders aiming to establish their reputation in a vibrant center of missions. However, it’s important to know that this might require tedious cargo transportation tasks, equivalent to listening to multiple seasons of true crime podcasts while shuttling between a tire factory and an adhesive store. It’s still in beta testing, too. If you wish to bestow your colony with its own moniker, be prepared to spend extra real money on Elite’s space-currency coins. But as an added challenge in the long run, it does provide more accessibility to the Milky Way.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection
Yu-Gi-Oh! EARLY DAYS COLLECTION – Official Launch Trailer
Is it reasonable to think that £55/$50 is a fair price for a collection of 14 old Yu-Gi-Oh games dating back to the GameBoy era? This could be an exciting find for longtime fans and vintage gaming enthusiasts. Some of these classic card battles were initially exclusive to Japan but are now included in this compilation. Moreover, certain games will offer online multiplayer options, such as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelists. Additionally, the collection includes a “reverse fast-forward” feature, similar to the well-liked quick-forward function in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy re-releases. However, it allows you to go back in time instead.
If you’re not into designing trousers using emblems of untamed wilderness, here’s a selection of other games for you instead. Today, Steam’s diverse collection of indie projects, adult content, and questionable AI creations has grown yet again. However, these are the four games that passed our rigorous RPS filter, a complex system that even our team doesn’t fully understand. If you appreciate such quality recommendations, just keep visiting us. We always enjoy having your attention.
