Instead of saying “The Nintendo Switch is a fantastic gaming console, however, it’s power falls short in comparison to the contemporary PlayStation and Xbox hardware,” you could rephrase it as follows: “The Nintendo Switch is an outstanding gaming system, yet its power pales in comparison to that of current-generation PlayStation and Xbox systems. Consequently, many gamers tend to choose PS5 or Xbox Series versions when games are released across multiple platforms.

It’s important to note that there are many high-quality game ports available for the Switch. While some may not offer the “ultimate” gaming experience, they are still excellent games and are perfectly playable on Nintendo’s handheld device. Despite the system’s limited capabilities, developers have put in a lot of effort to ensure these titles run smoothly.

These may not be the top-tier versions of these games, but Switch gamers might want to look into these decent adaptations worth considering.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

In essence, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time on Switch isn’t the smoothest port out there, as load times are somewhat prolonged and texture pop-in is visible when selecting costumes for either Crash or Coco. Despite these minor hiccups, it remains a commendable port that platformer enthusiasts should consider playing.

Despite occasional hiccups and slow loading periods, this game remains outstanding for play on Nintendo’s current console. The visuals are vibrant and captivating, with each region appearing stunningly detailed, particularly when viewed on an OLED screen. In terms of gameplay, the full Crash Bandicoot 4 experience offers some of the most challenging platforming you can encounter.

If you haven’t picked up this port of Crash 4, it’s about time to do so.

Batman: Arkham City

Despite not performing optimally like its PC counterpart, this version of Arkham City includes all the features. In fact, we believe it surpasses the Return to Arkham versions on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One due to its preservation of the original visual style rather than the questionable aesthetics of the remasters.

It’s no secret that the Nintendo Switch version of Arkham City performs admirably. The game manages to keep a steady frame rate of 30 FPS, with only occasional minor dips that players likely won’t mind due to the game’s engaging nature. Notably, this Switch port includes the Armored Edition skin from the Wii U version as well.

Although the Arkham Knight port on Switch may be disorganized, both Arkham City and Arkham Asylum are still worth buying for this platform.

Crisis Core – Final Fantasy VII – Reunion

Let’s delve into a less-discussed port. Although it’s available on the PlayStation 5 and Steam Deck, the remastered version of Crisis Core deserves more attention in discussions.

From a visual standpoint, this game on the Switch is stunningly beautiful, and we’re pleasantly surprised by how good it looks. Fortunately, the fundamental gameplay from the PSP original remains straightforward, allowing the game to run smoothly on Nintendo’s hybrid console, despite being at 30 FPS.

Although other versions of this game are superior, Crisis Core manages to deliver quality performance on Nintendo’s older system, making the cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts appear even more laughable. It remains a mystery to me how Square Enix could excel in this port but struggle with the Kingdom Hearts games.

Dying Light: Definitive Edition

This lesser-known version of Dying Light has really flown under the public’s notice, yet it’s remarkably impressive. Granted, its visuals might not match up to those on PS4 and Xbox One, but its playability makes up for it. Many people assumed this game would be unplayable on this platform, but surprisingly, it runs smoothly with decent performance.

Despite Nintendo’s library improving in terms of incorporating first-person shooters with the Switch, it’s still exciting to witness an open-world FPS game functioning flawlessly on this platform. If you’re a fan of zombies and first-person parkour, this game is definitely worth considering for your Switch collection.

These Switch ports, in our opinion, don’t get enough recognition. While they may not boast the most visually stunning or high-performance renditions of these games, they are still decent choices for Switch owners.
