Takuya Kuroda Releases ‘EVERYDAY,’ His Eighth Studio Album

Through blending aspects of hip-hop, neo-soul, and jazz, Takuya Kuroda has earned a name for himself as a versatile musician, renowned for his catchy rhythms, smooth grooves, and aptitude for creating earworm melodies. Now, the trumpeter from Kobe who resides in Brooklyn, showcases his wide range of abilities with the launch of his eighth studio album titled “EVERYDAY“.

This project, titled EVERYDAY, focuses on a harmonious blend of studio production artistry and the transcendent feel of live jazz performance. It embodies the continuous pursuit for perfection by a true jazz artist, Kuroda, who crafts his music around lyrical trumpet playing and melodies he terms as “singable.” Tracks like “Bad Bye,” “Iron Giraffe,” and the closing number “Curiosity” showcase these distinctive elements, with Kuroda switching from trumpet to flugelhorn on the latter. In addition to his trumpet work, he also uses synthesizers and the Fender Rhodes in this project.

One noteworthy song from this album that was released as its lead single is titled “Car 16 15 A.” This track draws inspiration from chasing the final train car on Japan’s bullet train while juggling performances. The song initially has a fast pace, mirroring the frenetic energy of rushing to catch the train, only to abruptly slow down, symbolizing the relief and relaxation that comes from making it onto the train, popping open a cold Premium Malt, and preparing for the journey to the next show.

In an interview with TopMob in January 2024, Kuroda expressed, “I’m brimming with readiness for whatever lies ahead.” Throughout his career, he has been self-assured about his skills, even during challenging periods. However, his manager and friends have noticed a fresh wave of confidence within him regarding the upcoming album, remarking, “Wow, Tak, you’ve got something special brewing on this next project!

Now, that album is here — and Kuroda’s confidence is on full display.
