Alexandra Daddario Shuts Down Critics Calling Her a “Bad Actress”: “I Got an Emmy Nomination”

I want to clarify something: Contrary to what certain critics may claim, I am not a poor actress. I take my craft seriously and always strive for excellence in every role I play.

The actress from the ‘Mayfair Witches’, renowned for her numerous roles across various productions, was recently queried by Elle magazine about the persistent gossip she can’t shake off, asking her to identify the “most extraordinary rumor concerning myself that refuses to die.

Daddario quickly responded: “That I’m a bad actress.”

With a steady gaze into the camera lens, she clarified her abilities and artistic merit. “I’m not a subpar performer,” the star of ‘The White Lotus’ asserted. “I’ve simply been involved in productions that haven’t fully showcased my skills as they should be. It all comes down to direction and scriptwriting. Sometimes the lighting isn’t ideal, but I’m not a bad actress. I managed to secure an Emmy nomination. How do you suppose I achieved that?

Last year, Daddario received an Emmy nomination for the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. This recognition came from her outstanding performance as Rachel Patton in the first season of Mike White’s popular HBO series titled “The White Lotus“.

After making her debut on the soap opera All My Children in the early 2000s, she subsequently starred in various productions such as Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, Baywatch, True Detective, Texas Chainsaw, and San Andreas, to name a few.

In another part of her interview with Elle, Daddario was additionally queried about a role she regrets taking on.

She mentioned that she’s participated in several acting projects she now regrets, but for the sake of discretion, she won’t disclose the title. She expressed her respect for all those who put in effort and with whom she collaborated, but there was an independent film she starred in that turned out to be a catastrophe. There were constant disagreements, producers leaving the set, and overall, a chaotic environment. While she doesn’t wish ill on the project, she made it clear that she disliked being part of such conflict.
