Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren Were Enthusiastic About Season 2 of ‘1923

According to Taylor Sheridan, both Harrison Ford (as Jacob Dutton) and Helen Mirren (as Cara Dutton) had agreed to appear in just one season of the show 1923. However, when it was time for additional seasons, they decided to continue their roles.

Initially, they had agreed to be part of a single season. However, their enthusiasm was uncontainable and they were eager for more. At some point, Harrison remarked, “Taylor, I believe I’m creating the best thing in the last 20 years.” To which my reply was, “What on earth did you create 20 years ago that was as good as this? I seem to have missed it. What was it?

If given the opportunity for a third season, Dame Helen Mirren expresses her readiness to collaborate with Harrison Ford once more. She would jump at the chance, regardless of whether it was another project rather than “1923”. However, she finds the prospect of continuing their current story an intriguing one as well.

As long as Harrison is in it, I’ll be there.

Mirren’s remarks indicate a deep fondness both for her on-screen partner and for the character of Cara. In an interview with Cowgirl Magazine, she shared that Taylor Sheridan’s knack for creating strong female roles was instrumental in altering her initial perspective on Western genres as a whole.

He has penned a remarkable collection of female characters, which were scarcely present during my formative years in this industry. As a spectator, I rarely encountered such characters on the silver screen. To be honest, I’ve never been particularly fond of Westerns due to the poorly portrayed women in them.

There Are Numerous Hints About What’s to Come in Season 2 of ‘1923’

In the second season of 1923, Brandon Sklenar (Spencer Dutton) and Julia Schlaepfer (Alexandra) will primarily be separated on screen, leading to fewer shared scenes. This shift was challenging for Schlaepfer as she and Sklenar had formed a strong bond during the first season, relying on each other both on and off-screen. As she put it, “It felt like we were partners in crime as human beings in season 1, so losing that companionship… It was quite isolating and jarring.

She further explained that it provided a distinct, enjoyable adventure, yet her remarks suggest that Spencer and Alexandra might not rekindle their relationship in the near future. Moreover, insights about what lies ahead for the Duttons can be derived merely from the episode titles. The first season of ‘1923’ included episodes with themes like war and fate, but the second season appears to revolve around death and devastation – hinting at a more somber atmosphere.
