A few days ago, Kangana Ranaut shared on social media that she has finally settled her long-standing legal dispute with screenwriter Javed Akhtar. They have both withdrawn their cases in the Bandra magistrate court. In an interview with a news outlet, Akhtar confirmed this and jokingly said, “I won’t get into another trouble.
For approximately five years, Javed Akhtar and Kangana Ranaut were embroiled in a defamation dispute. However, more recently, these celebrities managed to resolve their differences and have settled the mutual lawsuits they filed against each other. In an interview with Aaj Tak, the seasoned Bollywood screenwriter verified this information, stating that Kangana Ranaut has retracted her statements and withdrawn the accusations she had made.
When asked about the current state of their relationship with the celebrities, Akhtar responded, “I will have to wait and see. Perhaps I may encounter another issue instead.” During the same conversation, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar’s father added that Ranaut had promised not to make the same mistake again in future interactions with the publication.
Furthermore, not only has the actress apologized, but she has also dropped her lawsuit. In his final statement, Javed Akhtar expressed that he never asked for monetary compensation; instead, he desired an apology, and one was granted.
On February 28, 2025, Kangana caused a stir online when she shared a picture with the renowned lyricist. In the photo, they both posed for the camera inside a legal magistrate’s office. Through the captions, the actress from Tanu Weds Manu revealed that they had settled their legal dispute (defamation case) through mediation, and she praised Javed ji for being understanding and generous during the process. Moreover, she excitedly announced that the lyricist has consented to compose songs for her upcoming directorial project.
For those not familiar, they found themselves embroiled in a legal dispute when Kangana claimed in an interview that Akhtar asked her to apologize to Hrithik Roshan, her co-star in the movie Krrish 3. In response, the star of Fighter filed a lawsuit against her in 2016, demanding an apology following a public argument about their alleged relationship.
