2025 Oscars sees Culkin, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for “A Real Pain“, donning a bespoke Zegna tuxedo. The ensemble includes a shawl collar jacket in a rich green shade, complemented by a black tuxedo shirt, black bow tie, and trousers. Chloe Hartstein, Culkin’s stylist for almost a year, comments on his penchant for color, stating that it can be challenging with men’s formal wear. She prefers adopting a monochromatic approach, which not only makes Culkin look cool and casual but also effortless. Hartstein recalls Culkin’s speech at the SAG Awards in Dior Men and thinks he appeared comfortable and authentic.
The jacket’s lapel boasts a unique brooch designed by Kwiat and Fred Leighton, featuring three precious stones – a pear-shaped emerald from Colombia, a cushion-cut purple sapphire, and a square-cut peridot. This exquisite piece is crafted in platinum. According to Hartstein, Kieran‘s world revolves around his family, making them the core of his existence. To reflect this, we incorporated the birthstones from his wife Jazz Charton and their two children into a stunning jabot pin. The stones appear as if floating on the lapel, symbolizing the everyday life that Kieran cherishes with his loved ones. In this extraordinary moment, we aimed to be thoughtful by incorporating a tangible representation of his reality.
Rebecca Selva, creative director at Kwiat and Fred Leighton, explained to THR that the design is classic yet intended to showcase the gemstones. They aimed for a simple, elegant look with a hint of Art Deco style from the 1920s. This year marks the centennial of the Art Deco movement, and this type of brooch was fashionable in the ’20s. It’s experiencing a resurgence now, and they were thrilled to design something suitable for Kieran to wear tonight – something trendy that reflects his personality and the event.

Hartstein is completing Culkin’s appearance with an Omega $20,000 De Ville Trésor timepiece featuring a burgundy dial, a brand of watch that the actor has sported during the entire 2025 awards season, and black velvet shoes by John Lobb.

Culkin’s work in “A Real Pain” during awards season has been nothing short of triumphant, garnering him a Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award, Independent Spirit Award, and a BAFTA Award, among others. Harstein finds their collaboration throughout the season delightful, with Culkin’s Oscars 2025 appearance already planned as the perfect final touch, according to her.
Hartstein also notes that they share similar views in many aspects. They treat their work with importance but maintain a sense of humor about themselves, which is crucial for these kinds of experiences. Kieran is genuine; he’s the same person whether you see him on red carpets or giving speeches. He remains consistent and it’s delightful to collaborate with someone who is both an excellent team player and grounded in reality in a charming manner.

When Hartstein started collaborating with Culkin in 2024, there was no room for gradualness: Their debut joint venture was the Met Gala in May.
Hartstein expresses that the event was significant as it marked the beginning of collaborating with someone new and establishing a fresh client relationship. However, he considers it beneficial because it provided an initial test for us, allowing us to explore boundaries and expand ideas. It seemed like we immediately meshed well together from the start.
For the specific event, Culkin donned a vibrant suit designed by Colm Dillane, head of KidSuper, a label based in Brooklyn. Later that night, Hartstein concentrated on matching outfits for Culkin’s press tour promoting A Real Pain. This effort eventually extended to the awards season of this year, culminating in his 2025 Oscar nomination for best supporting actor. “Our goal is to blend classic and elegant men’s fashion with a timeless touch, which I find appealing,” she explains. “We also include small, distinctive elements to ensure Kieran feels authentic in those instances.
