Priyanka Chopra is renowned for her bold character and unwavering self-assurance in all her endeavors, but beyond her acting talent, she cherishes her family deeply. Recently, her mother, Madhu Chopra, disclosed an intriguing detail: just six days after the passing of her father, Priyanka orchestrated a unique surprise for her mom. She presented John Abraham, artfully wrapped like a gift, as a birthday present for her.
In a chat with Lehren Retro, Madhu Chopra shared that he had sadly passed away on the 10th of June, and her birthday is on the 16th of the same month. She went on to share that Priyanka encouraged the family to move forward with celebrating her 60th birthday.
Given that their family members were already assembled due to his ill health, the actress requested they remain, feeling it was in line with what her father would have preferred. Amidst their sorrow, she motivated them to proceed with the prearranged celebration as intended.
In a touching moment, Madhu, who has always admired John Abraham, reflected on the extraordinary steps her daughter took to boost her mood. To her delight, her daughter orchestrated an unexpected visit from John Abraham’s Dostana co-star, who arrived at midnight, dressed up like a birthday gift.
Priyanka stated, “John had been asked to arrive at midnight, all wrapped up like a birthday gift. Incredible, isn’t it? She insisted, ‘Mom needs her special moment.'” Despite the celebration being filled with music and a DJ, some family members expressed disapproval, voicing their concerns about Priyanka dancing so soon after the loss of her husband.
On the other hand, Madhu held a different perspective. She acknowledged that, amidst their sorrow, her kids had gone to great lengths to make her feel treasured. Priyanka was adamant that they were fulfilling her father’s desires and urged everyone to seize and appreciate the special moment.
Currently, Priyanka Chopra has candidly discussed how the passing of her father in 2013 significantly changed her viewpoint on grief. On the Read the Room podcast, she delved into the idea that while this kind of pain might lessen over time, it remains a constant presence throughout one’s life.
She pointed out that endlessly waiting for the pain to cease is pointless, as grief can linger, occasionally resurfacing intensely and lasting for days, while at other times lingering subtly until stirred by a memory or picture. However, acknowledging its existence, she stressed, is the key to moving through it effectively.
Dr. Ashok Chopra endured a lengthy struggle against cancer until his death in 2013 at the age of sixty-two. The sadness of his passing deeply affected Priyanka Chopra and influenced her understanding of sorrow and strength.
