Lucy Halliday Joins ‘The Testaments’ as Gilead’s Fierce New Lead

The upcoming season of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” named after Margaret Atwood’s novel and airing on Hulu, is expanding its primary cast. Known as “The Testaments” in the series, it has recently added Chase Infiniti to play one of the key roles and confirmed Ann Dowd’s return as Aunt Lydia. Now, we have learned that actress Lucy Halliday will also join the cast, taking on one of the main roles.

In the highly praised 2022 independent film titled “Blue Jean,” Halliday is set to portray Daisy, one of the principal characters, sharing screen time with Dowd’s Lydia and Infinit’s Agnes. The plot unfolds around fifteen years following the occurrences in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” during which the lingering effects of Gilead are being experienced. As suggested by an official summary of the book, the lives of three distinct women intersect, potentially leading to dramatic consequences, in “The Testaments.

Halliday, fresh from completing production for James McAvoy’s directorial premiere in Scotland, announced the news on her personal Instagram with the caption “Off to Gilead I head”, also mentioning that “Daisy (!!!!!) is a truly amazing individual.
