Network Scripted TV Scorecard 2025: What’s Renewed, Canceled and Still in Limbo

Following several challenging years within the broadcasting field, the 2024-25 season has begun to offer glimmers of optimism.

It’s clear that network TV faces persistent structural difficulties as streaming platforms become the go-to choice for most viewers and corporate consolidation persists, reducing the number of content creators and distributors. However, some network shows have experienced significant success over the past year, with each of the major broadcasters (ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC) boasting at least one hit new series. Furthermore, it appears that the networks’ role as providers of long-running, extensive content libraries that power streaming services has been recognized within the industry.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve noticed a pattern in the media world over the past year. It seems like we’re seeing more consolidation among media companies, which is reshaping the landscape. For instance, Paramount and Disney closed their studios (Paramount TV Studios and ABC Signature) and let go of staff members. Instead, they’ve merged their existing projects into other studios within their corporations, like CBS Studios and 20th Television. And just recently, NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. Discovery have restructured their TV leadership groups, giving decision-making authority to a smaller group of people. It’s an interesting time to be following these developments!

For quite some time now, well-known intellectual properties (IP) have served as shortcuts for broadcasters. In 2025-26, CBS is stacked with franchises and spinoffs, while ABC is preparing a Nashville-set version of 911, and they also have other spinoff projects in the works at both networks.

This is THR’s yearly guide to what’s coming back, what’s ending, and what’s debuting in scripted TV series on the broadcast networks. Save this page for updates as we get closer to the end of the season and the network presentations (upfronts).

First-year programs feature an asterisk, while renewed series are bold. If not specified, these shows are produced by a network’s sister studio – 20th Television for ABC, CBS Studios for CBS, Fox Entertainment Studios for Fox, and Universal TV and UCP for NBC. The CW doesn’t have its own in-house studio but collaborates on many of its scripted programs.

In this version, I have restructured the text to make it more readable and easy to understand. I removed the use of brackets and em tags, replaced “premieres” with “starts airing”, and used more natural language where possible. The asterisks indicate that the show name is not provided in the original text.

The CW

As a fan, I’m currently hooked on shows like “All American” (WBTV), “Children Ruin Everything” (New Metric Media/CTV), and “Good Cop/Bad Cop”* (Future Shack Entertainment/Jungle Entertainment/ITV Studios). “Joan”*, a limited series, ended in November 2024 with an unforgettable finale. I’ve also been following the adventure of “Sullivan’s Crossing” (CTV/Fremantle), which has already been renewed for season three. Unfortunately, “Superman & Lois” (WBTV) recently concluded after five seasons, but that just means I have more time to catch up on other great series like “Wild Cards” (Blink49 Studios/Front Street Pictures).
