Contains spoilers for “Fire Country” Season 3, Episode 13 — “My Team”
In the series “My Team,” the team is summoned to extinguish a dugout fire ignited by a smoke bomb. This incident stirs up deep emotional wounds for Bode Leone, who used to be Max Thieriot as a child actor. The town’s highly anticipated baseball game, called the County Clash, is approaching, but what stands out most in his mind isn’t the excitement of the game—it’s the knee injury that dashed his dreams of becoming a professional athlete.
In shock, Bode discovers that the coach of his ballclub – Drew Kimbro, portrayed by Luke Humphrey – was the same individual who tarnished his high school sports career with an underhanded play. That very incident led him down a destructive path, resulting in an addiction to opioids and eventually imprisonment at Three Rock Camp. Despite their mutual animosity, Bode persuades Drew to reform as a coach, recognizing that the fearful young smoke-bomb thrower is unable to stand against Drew’s tough demeanor and face the crucial game.
In episode 12, things went from bad to worse for Bode as his previous injury was aggravated during their hazardous expedition into Trinity National Forest with Jake (Jordan Calloway). However, it’s not just Bode’s injured knee that he’s dealing with; he also has other issues he’s carrying along with him.
Bode may or may not give in to his pain pill addiction
In Bode’s recurring dreams, there’s a man named Rafael (Victor Andres Turgeon-Trelles), whom he and Jake stumbled upon beneath a rockslide but were unable to save before it was too late. The anguish over Rafael mirrors the regret Bode has held since his sister Riley’s death in a car accident many years ago, where Bode was driving. His inability to prevent both tragedies continues to torment him. During a casual game of basketball with his Uncle Luke (Michael Trucco), Bode discusses his failed attempt to save Rafael. Although Bode’s heart isn’t completely at peace, he manages to find closure for his feelings.
However, Bode’s problems don’t stop at this point. It appears that Drew isn’t only involved in unsportsmanlike baseball, but he also has a history with drugs. In an unusual show of kindness, Drew gives Bode a small package containing painkillers which he used during a recent shoulder injury for Bode to use on his knee. It remains unclear whether Bode uses the pills or not, and fans are left speculating if Bode might once again succumb to drug addiction or even face a parole violation and return to Three Rock.
It’s quite clear that their romantic progress in Episode 11, culminating in a kiss with Audrey James, might place Bode’s relationship at risk. The upcoming episode of “Fire Country” will unveil which route Bode takes, but since Max Thieriot hinted before Season 3 started that this season would depict Bode navigating the tightrope between addiction and sobriety, viewers should prepare for some challenging developments ahead.
