Series Mania has revealed their choice of 10 shows to be showcased at their first-ever buyers’ conference, taking place on March 24, 2025, in the city of Lille.

The event starts with the Beta Brunch, where a market presentation is given by an experienced German group. After that, each of the chosen series will have a 12-minute presentation. This selection, put together by the festival’s artistic team based on artistic quality and wide audience appeal, features:
The Thrilling Secret (Germany) – A suspenseful tale marketed by OneGate Media about Alex Jaromin, who’s spent two decades in Athens under witness protection, believing his father was slain by Serbian nationalists. Upon the passing of his mother, he unearths the hidden truth behind his family’s history, exposing a covert government operation connected to Baghdad.
From the Chilling Grip of Bolivia (Norway) – A gripping drama/thriller from REinvent International Sales: In Bolivia’s grimy underworld, I find myself ensnared alongside my girlfriend and sister-in-law in a drug smuggling debacle that lands us 13 years behind bars. Caught in a labyrinth of deceit and treachery, I am presented with an opportunity to break free, but choosing who to believe becomes a matter of life or death.
In Iceland, the suspenseful series titled “Fusion” unfolds. Produced by The Mediapro Studio Distribution and Wild Sheep Content, this drama revolves around Jónas, a chef striving to rebuild his life post-unjust incarceration. He opens a restaurant with illicit funds, however, his participation in money laundering puts his parole, liberty, and family’s trust at risk.
In a cozy British mystery crime series titled “Puzzle Lady” (UK), we follow Cora Felton, a former resident of Downton Abbey and skilled crossword enthusiast, who relocates to the tranquil town of Bakerbury. However, her peaceful life is quickly upended as she finds herself enmeshed in a local murder case. The UK Series “Riot Girls” – This is a captivating drama offered by Mediawan Rights. The story revolves around five women who come together to create an impromptu punk-rock band for a local competition. The Danish Woman (Iceland) – This Scandinavian comedy distributed by The Party Film Sales presents Trine Dyrholm, co-star from The Girl With The Needle, as a retired Danish Intelligence agent relocating to Reykjavik in search of tranquility. Yet, her strong sense of justice propels her to meddle in her neighbors’ affairs – regardless of their desire for assistance.
The Deal (Switzerland/France/Luxembourg/Belgium) – Gamount’s Thriller
The story follows Swiss diplomat Alexandra Weiss, portrayed by Veerle Baetens from “The Broken Circle Breakdown,” who is assigned a mission of crucial importance: to mediate a final round of nuclear talks between the U.S. and Iran. However, complications arise when an old flame resurfaces, requiring her to decide whether to prioritize her professional obligations or her personal bond.
Title Transformation: “War of the Kingdoms” (German) – A captivating fantasy series previously known as “Hagen,” now being distributed by Fremantle, is inspired by the medieval tale “The Song of the Nibelungs.” This story shares source material with both “The Lord of the Rings” and “Game of Thrones.” The narrative unfolds around Lord Commander Hagen, a dedicated soldier grappling with his allegiance to his king and forbidden affection for Princess Kriemhild.
This year at Series Mania, a panel of six experts from the industry will review these series and award the first Buyers Choice Prize. This initiative is an extension of the festival’s efforts to transform its industry segment into a key event for global buyers, making it a must-visit destination.
