In the game Monster Hunter Wilds, the Secret steed plays a crucial part, and players will devote significant time exploring various ecosystems while riding it. However, managing the Secret with the standard settings can be tricky at times, giving the impression that the mount acts independently. Luckily, a minor adjustment to the settings can significantly alleviate this problem, making controlling the Secret in Monster Hunter Wilds feel much smoother and more enjoyable.

The focus point here is referred to as “Seikret Manual Controls“, which can be accessed under the ‘Controls’ section within the ‘Options’ menu. Typically, this setting is pre-set to Type 1, meaning the Seikret continues its speed in ‘Manual Movement Mode’ even without any directional input. Although adjusting the speed and even stopping the Seikret is possible with Type 1 controls, players of Monster Hunter Wilds might find the overall experience confusing at times and somewhat aggravating.

An option exists, and when a directional key is pressed, the Seikret will move only in Manual Movement Mode. This setting is called “Type 2,” designed to mimic the Hunter’s control scheme for a smoother transition between controlling Monster Hunter Wilds’ Hunter and the Seikret. Monster Hunter Wilds’ Seikret Has Two Movement Modes

Auto-Move Mode

It’s worth mentioning that in Monster Hunter Wilds, the Secret has two distinct ways of moving, and it’s crucial for players to grasp the differences between them. One mode is referred to as “Automatic Movement Mode,” which makes the Secret automatically advance towards a predetermined destination. Typically, this mode is activated by pressing the up button on the d-pad or tab key on your keyboard, and players should employ it only when they wish to let their Secret make all the decisions.

When you push up on the directional pad or tap the Tab key while not being mounted, it summons the Secret character in Auto-move Mode. You can also assign a different action to do this by going to the “Call Seikret Controls” option, located under the Controls tab within the Options menu, and choosing Type 2.

Manual Movement Mode

In the second setting, you’ll find the Manual Exploration Mode. This mode is triggered when you adjust Seikret Manual Controls to Type 2. Normally, this mode starts when you press down on a d-pad or ‘q’ key on your keyboard. Once you’ve switched to Type 2, your Seikret will behave similarly to your Hunter after you press one of these inputs. This makes navigating the ecosystems in Monster Hunter Wilds a breeze as you won’t have to struggle against your mount trying to keep its speed steady.

In the thrill of Manual Movement Mode, I can customize my gaming experience by assigning an extra command to summon my Seikret. To achieve this, I simply adjust the “Call Seikret Controls” option to Type 3. For those comfortable with the default down button on a d-pad or ‘q’ key on a keyboard for Manual Movement Mode, no changes are required.

Monster Hunter Wilds Players Can Use a Combination of Auto-Move & Manual Movement Modes

To clarify, it’s essential to note that players have the freedom to toggle between Automatic and Manual movement modes in the game. They can do this by pressing the designated keys: up on the d-pad or tab on the keyboard for Automatic mode, and down on the d-pad or q on the keyboard for Manual mode. In other words, if a player is currently using Manual mode, they can activate Automatic movement by setting a waypoint and hitting an Automatic input.
