CBS is cutting the ranks of its FBI agents.
The TV network has decided to discontinue both “FBI: Most Wanted” and “FBI: International”. These shows are set to conclude in the spring following their sixth and fourth seasons respectively. Meanwhile, the original series, currently under a multi-season contract extending up until the 2026-27 season, will continue airing on CBS.
A new installment of the series is being developed at CBS, centered around CIA agents and currently referred to as FBI: CIA. This potential TV show could make its debut as a “back-door pilot” within an upcoming episode of FBI during this current season.
The cancellations of both “International” and “Most Wanted” came as an unexpected move, despite the fact that neither show was included in the significant renewal announcement CBS made in February. Both series have been maintaining respectable ratings on CBS. While they may not attract the same number of viewers as the main shows, they are still ranked among the top 25 most-watched TV shows (excluding live sports) this season, with an average viewership of approximately 7.5 million after a week of cross-platform viewing, according to Nielsen data.
Following the conclusion of the popular series “Blue Bloods”, as previously announced by CBS, it’s expected that the two spin-off shows based on the FBI will probably rank among the highest rated programs that don’t get a spot on any television schedule.
The “FBI” series is produced by Dick Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment, in collaboration with Universal Television (Wolf’s longtime production partner) and CBS Studios. The main cast of “FBI: Most Wanted” includes Dylan McDermott, Shantel VanSanten, Roxy Sternberg, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Edwin Hodge. The cast for “FBI: International” features Jesse Lee Soffer, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto, Eva-Jane Willis, and Christina Wolfe.
In the production of both series, Wolf and Peter Jankowski serve as executive producers. The executive producer team for Most Wanted includes David Hudgins, Ken Girotti, Paul Cabbad, and McDermott. On the other hand, Matt Olmstead, Michael Katleman, and Ernesto Alcalde are the executive producers of International.
