Approximately a week ago, Ayushmann Khurrana posted a picture from the Thama sets as he restarted filming for the vampire-comedy movie alongside Rashmika Mandanna. It’s worth noting that filming in Delhi was temporarily halted when Sikandar actress suffered a leg injury. Now, around one and a half months later, director Aditya Sarpotdar has resumed work on the vampire comedy with a fresh production plan.
Based on a report from Mid-day, they’re expediting the production of the film “Thama,” starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, to make up for lost time. Originally, the plan was to start shooting straight away in January, but Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who will portray the villain, wasn’t expected to join until February in Ooty. However, it seems that things have been moved forward now.
Although the plan has undergone changes, at present, the principal cast including Paresh Rawal is filming at authentic city locations. According to a report, after March 27, the cast and crew are expected to relocate to Film City where sets mimicking Delhi houses and streets have been constructed. Instead of saving certain sequences for Delhi, these scenes will now be filmed here, with Nawazuddin joining in as well.
According to a source from the publication, the director plans to debut the movie during Diwali. Following the completion of filming in Mumbai by late April, the team will travel to Ooty by May. They will capture the necessary scenes in the Nilgiri forest and finish the project by the end of May.
As an ardent admirer, let me share my excitement about “Thama” – a tale that delves deep into the complexities of unrequited love, masterfully portrayed through its central character. This intriguing narrative unfolds in modern-day Delhi, where the talented Khurrana breathes life into a historian’s role. The storyline weaves beautifully with flashbacks, transporting us not just to present-day Delhi, but also to the ancient city of Vijayanagar, where this love story is said to have originated.
Last autumn, it was revealed that Aditya Sarpotdar’s film “Thama” would be released. This upcoming movie promises an intense love story unfolding amidst a violent setting, and it’s slated for release during Diwali 2025. The production is supported by Dinesh Vijan and belongs to the horror-comedy universe of Maddock Films.
Significantly, Thama is set to face off against an as-yet unnamed movie starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, under the direction of Anurag Basu.
