‘Jaws’ Exhibit to Take a Bite Out of Academy Museum

Half a century has passed since it sent shivers down spines, both in real waters and on movie screens; now, the iconic film Jaws is set to be showcased at the Academy Museum in an upcoming exhibit.

Jaws: The Exhibition will be on view from Sept. 14, 2025 to July 26, 2026. 

As an enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the inaugural museum exhibition I’m looking forward to – “Jaws: The Exhibition.” This captivating event promises a treasure trove of over 200 genuine artifacts straight from the set of Steven Spielberg’s iconic blockbuster, “Jaws.” From intriguing concept sketches and authentic costumes to meticulous mechanical shark blueprints, it even includes a screen-used prop dorsal fin that graced the movie! It’s going to be an unforgettable dive into cinematic history!

The exhibit is being arranged with exclusive privileges to Steven Spielberg’s private collection, The Amblin Hearth Archive, and NBCUniversal Archives & Collections. It will provide unique insights into the production process and offer engaging interactive experiences, as mentioned in a statement from the Academy Museum.

Ever since it opened in 2021, The Academy Museum has been housing the lone intact full-size model of the Jaws shark, famously known as “Bruce the Shark.” This impressive shark stands an impressive 25 feet long, making it the largest item in the museum’s permanent collection. Visitors are greeted by Bruce outside the museum’s 4th floor exhibition area on their arrival.

Jaws: The Exhibition is arranged by senior exhibitions curator Jenny He and assistant curator Emily Rauber Rodriguez. This exhibition will be complemented by an engaging series of movie screenings, unique new merchandise offerings, and public events to be revealed at a future time.
