Contains spoilers for “Chicago Med” Season 10, Episode 15 — “Down in a Hole”
In the 15th episode of Season 10, titled “Down in a Hole,” on “Chicago Med,” character Mitch Ripley, played by Luke Mitchell, effectively quelled exit gossip. His character not only emerged from a depressive phase but also successfully rekindled his relationship with Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram), despite the previous love triangle speculation. Moreover, he saved a missing mother and daughter in an incident that many have hailed as one of the best episodes of “Chicago Med” to date. His actor has stated that this episode signifies Mitch’s escape from a grief-stricken pit he’s been in for much of the season.
According to Mitchell, the experience is likely to transform Ripley in numerous aspects. We can expect a revitalized and enhanced version of Ripley. He foresees Ripley as an individual who will embrace the consequences of his actions more fully, and shows signs of newfound energy.
He added that the sight of his deceased best friend, Sully, in the well during his near-death experience was a powerful wake-up call that led him to quit drinking and violent behavior. However, Ripley’s relationships with his colleagues and friends may still require time for healing and forgiveness as he navigates through his personal growth process.
Mitch has been forgiven — but he still has a mountain to climb
When asked about Mitch trying to win back Sharon Goodwin’s favor after she threatened to fire him, Luke Mitchell expressed doubt about the ease of this task. “To be honest,” he told TV Insider, “he has a lot to make up for, so I’m not sure it will be simple.” Ultimately, Sharon holds the reins in deciding Mitch’s fate at Chicago Gaffney Medical Center, leaving uncertainty as to whether his acts of kindness, obligation, and exceptional medical skills will sway her.
As for Ripley and Asher’s romantic situation, Mitchell believes it boils down to unfortunate timing between the two of them. However, he feels they are well-suited as a couple. Yet, at this moment, Mitch is concentrating on recovering from his severe trauma. He suggested that they might need some time apart, whether temporarily or indefinitely. It seems that Mitch’s healing process may take some time, and viewers will have to tune in on March 26th to see how things unfold.
