It’s no wonder that, just as some of the funniest individuals can deliver powerful dramatic performances, – famed for his comedic role as Cameron Tucker on Modern Family – has landed an impressive part in Dexter: Resurrection. This talented actor is now set to work alongside a host of renowned figures with significant storylines in the upcoming installment of Dexter’s gripping saga.
By the specified deadline, Stonestreet has become a part of the show’s main cast, featuring in a significant multi-episode role. The actor is projected to make an appearance in four episodes, taking on the character of a serial killer named Al. The former star of “Modern Family” will be joining Krysten Ritter as Mia and Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell, who are speculated to portray serial killers that will keep Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) exceptionally occupied. Filming for “Dexter: Resurrection” has been ongoing in New York since January and is expected to premiere on Paramount+ alongside Showtime this summer.
‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Features a Stacked Ensemble Cast
Alongside David Zayas, James Remar, Jack Alcott, Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, and Emilia Suárez, the cast of Dexter: Resurrection is complete. Clyde Phillips, who previously served as showrunner, returns in this role once more while also acting as an executive producer alongside Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lily Burns. Monica Raymund will take charge of directing four episodes, while Marcos Siega will oversee six episodes and serve as the producing director.
Following the acclaimed success of the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin“, which delved into Dexter’s early days as he honed his skills to become a self-made vigilante serial killer, comes the new installment “Dexter: Resurrection“. The prequel was set up in the final scene of “Dexter: New Blood”, while “Resurrection” unfolds after the 2021 sequel miniseries. Specific plot details for “Resurrection” have been kept under wraps, but given the recent popularity of the “Dexter” IP, it’s no surprise that “Dexter: Original Sin” became Showtime’s most-watched premiere with over 2.1 million viewers worldwide across various platforms. The season finale of “Original Sin“, which aired in February, peaked at 2.68 million global viewers.
Speaking about Stonestreet, he starred on the hit comedy series “Modern Family” for eleven seasons, winning two Emmy Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series from three nominations. His latest role was Mad Santa in Disney+’s “The Santa Clauses,” which brought him his fourth Emmy nomination. Previously, he has been seen in shows like “Bad Teacher,” “Identity Thief,” “The Loft,” and “Confirmation.” Additionally, Stonestreet voiced Duke, the shaggy dog, in the “The Secret Life of Pets” film series.
