Be Brave, Barb is a gravity-bending new platformer from the creator of Dadish

  • Be Brave, Barb is the latest release from Thomas K. Young, the creator of Dadish
  • This gravity-bending platformer sees you leaping from platform to platform to avoid obstacles
  • Enjoy 100 levels, five bosses and “questionable therapy” (their words, not mine)

Amongst the buzz at Pocket Gamer headquarters, the Dadish series has been a consistent topic of conversation. As a gaming enthusiast here, I can attest that this platformer collection is a cherished favorite among many of us staff members. With the recent launch of Thomas K. Young’s latest project, Be Brave, Barb!, there’s no better moment to dive in and experience it for myself.

In this game titled after the protagonist cactus, you embark on a journey aimed at vanquishing King Cloud and his minions. The unique aspect is that it’s filled with encouraging messages. The main mechanic of Be Brave, Barb involves manipulating gravity to leap between platforms while navigating around obstacles – similar to the much-loved game Gravity Rush in concept.

This game boasts 100 stages, five boss fights, and a somewhat debatable therapeutic experience (their description, not mine). Brave, Barb is certain to captivate enthusiasts of the Dadish series and platformer games! It also includes controller compatibility and graphical aesthetics that are both nostalgically retro and pleasingly crisp.

The collection by Thomas K. Young has an appealing, vintage ambiance that doesn’t tie down to any specific platform or era. It brings back a certain sense of nostalgia for me, as the aesthetic was widely used in the independent scene during my youth.

Regarding quality, there’s no sign that this newest edition of the Dadish series will lack its trademark shine. If you’re eager for more adventures and open to trying something fresh, Barb might just be the hero you’ve been anticipating.
