Teddi Mellencamp is speaking candidly about her health experiences, following the discovery of several tumors and an emergency operation on her brain last month.
Previously known “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member, Kyle Richards, revisited her and Tamra Judge’s iHeartRadio podcast, “Two Ts in a Pod,” on Thursday, to discuss a harrowing incident that recently occurred. “I can admit that I’ve experienced some of my most difficult, sorrowful days since February 12th when this event took place,” Richards shared. “However, the events leading up to it are absolutely astonishing and hard to believe.
She had experienced signs before her diagnosis, such as the most severe migraine she’d ever had during a horse show, as well as moments when she couldn’t recall specific words, suffered from intense shaking, and became disoriented while on a horse, not knowing her exact location at one point. Mellencamp highlighted these symptoms.
Her health deteriorated significantly upon her arrival in New Orleans with Judge the day after, with her expressing intense pain that made it difficult for her to even walk. Judge himself expressed concern during this period and suggested Mellencamp seek immediate medical attention, feeling something was amiss.
After they had both made it through the weekend and Mellencamp got back home, she was still feeling very unwell and reached out to a friend for help a few days later, asking to be taken to the hospital. “I found myself breaking down in tears to her, saying something like, ‘I need you to take me to the hospital right now. I think I’m seriously ill. I can’t see clearly, I can’t walk, and I can barely get out of bed,'” Mellencamp recalled. She mentioned that her separated husband, Edwin Arroyave, eventually took her to the hospital as her friend was not available at the moment.
The television personality confessed that for six months, she’s been experiencing persistent headaches but preferred to ignore them due to the numerous negative events happening simultaneously. Instead, she chose to focus on progressing with her life. Eventually, after receiving a hospital examination, doctors revealed that she had more than seven tumors in her body.
Mellencamp explained that she had a surgical procedure called a craniotomy, during which medical professionals extracted four brain tumors.
Mellencamp expressed her struggle in understanding what was going on due to people not wanting to disclose the truth out of fear. She said she believed everything was okay, thinking she could leave the hospital the next day once the tumors were removed. However, she admitted that she didn’t grasp the situation at all, and it was disappointing.”

“Mellencamp explained her difficulty in comprehending what was happening because people didn’t want to share the truth due to fear. She thought everything was fine, thinking she would be discharged from the hospital the following day after the tumors were removed. Sadly, she admitted that she had no idea what was going on and it was a real letdown.
She admitted, “Although I usually try to present things in a positive light, the truth is it’s been a tough 17 days for everyone close to me. But having my father, John Mellencamp, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, step in and help during this time has truly made all the difference.
She subsequently chose immunotherapy as her treatment option due to discovering additional melanoma tumors in both her lungs (two) and brain (three), which were deemed too hazardous for surgical removal. To clarify, many people might misunderstand terms like “brain tumors” or “lung tumors,” assuming they refer to conditions other than melanoma. However, it’s important to note that melanoma can spread to other organs, which is what occurred in her case, and all of her tumors are indeed melanoma.
Mellencamp conveyed to the judge that she’s experiencing a very optimistic outlook as she gears up to initiate radiation therapy on March 17, which is scheduled for a week, and also plans to carry on with her immunotherapy sessions every three weeks.
She expressed regret, saying if only she’d felt unwell or noticed a change in herself sooner, she would have sought medical help immediately. If she had delayed her visit to the doctor any longer, she wasn’t sure what the outcome might have been.
In 2022, Mellencamp announced that she was diagnosed with Stage 2 melanoma. Since then, she’s been open about her health struggles on social media. On March 6, 2025, she shared an update after undergoing emergency brain surgery, revealing that the cancer was still present in subsequent scans.
She shared an update about her recent scans: There are several brain tumors, initially not removable via surgery, and two lung tumors discovered. These are all spread (metastases) from her melanoma. On Instagram, she expressed optimism that immunotherapy could successfully manage these tumors.
John Mellencamp appeared on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for seasons eight to ten (2017-20). However, when her contract wasn’t renewed, she claimed that she found out about it not from Bravo but through friends and the media, feeling taken aback or surprised by the decision.
