Tom Hardy’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Leaves Netflix Soon

This month brings bad news for action,
, and Mad Max fans, and it’s all thanks to
. Beginning back in 1979 and starring the now controversial Hollywood icon (and “Special Ambassador”) Mel Gibson as the titular “Mad” Max Rockatansky, Oscar-nominee and Venom star Tom Hardy took over the lead role in the critically acclaimed 2015 sequel,
.

While the Mad Max movie has now sparked a spin-off in last year’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, fans don’t have long to once again bask in the high-speed action delight of the Fury Road, as the Tom Hardy-led sequel is all set to leave Netflix on March 30, 2025. Mad Max: Fury Road was co-written, co-produced, and directed by George Miller, and sees Hardy take over from Gibson as the post-apocalyptic survivor and road warrior “Mad Max” Rockatansky, joining forces with Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa. Mad Max: Fury Road was met with monumental acclaim upon release, with many declaring it the greatest action movie of modern times. The action outing was even nominated for several Oscars, including Best Picture, winning Best Film Editing and Best Costume Design, among others.

No doubt fans of Mad Max and Tom Hardy will be sad to see the action movie leave Netflix later this month. You can check out the official synopsis below, but really you should be hurrying to load the movie up on the streamer before it’s too late.

“Years after the collapse of civilization, the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot’s five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland.”

Will Tom Hardy Ever Return for ‘Mad Max 5’?

Tom Hardy has yet to lead another Mad Max movie, with George Miller revealing last month that he does have a script written for Mad Max: The Wasteland…but we could be waiting a while. If it ever even happens.

“So, there’s lots of stories. Indeed, one of them is a Mad Max. It is not something I would do next, because there’s two things I’m keen to do next. But if for whatever reason the planets align, you can never tell. Too often, you’re lining up to do a movie and then something happens. Some things fall into place and some don’t, so all I can say is we’ll see.”

Thankfully, Hardy is all set to leap into action on Netflix in next month’s Havoc. The actor will join forces with The Raid director Gareth Evans for the long-delayed action thriller, which follows Hardy as a detective who must fight his way through the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s son. Havoc is due to hit the streamer on April 25, 2025.
