After an action-packed week in the Amazon Prime Video series “Reacher,” starring Alan Ritchson as the main character, fans are getting more and more eager as the season finale approaches. In the previous episode, Reacher confronted his longtime adversary Xavier Quinn (played by Brian Tee), and had to speed things up when his identity was exposed. As Quinn’s anger mounted, he dispatched Paulie (Olivier Richters) and his minions to eliminate Reacher, but they couldn’t stand a chance against the powerful and relentless hero.
Concerned that she can’t possibly track down Teresa (Storm Steenson) now that Reacher has been identified as a snitch, Duffy (Sonya Cassidy) is taken aback when he suggests they might have another option to explore. The final moments of Episode 6 leave us hanging, as he announces their destination: Los Angeles. With only two episodes remaining in the thrilling third season, the penultimate episode, titled “L.A. Story,” promises a spectacular, action-packed climax that is certain to captivate, amuse, and satisfy fans as events reach their dramatic peak for Reacher and his companions.
Reacher & Duffy Head West to Los Angeles
In an attempt to finalize a significant agreement, Reacher and Duffy embarked towards Los Angeles in search of Darien Prado, Quinn’s money-laundering partner. They managed to convince the corrupt art gallery owner to arrange a private meeting with Beck (Anthony Michael Hall), with the intention of persuading him that collaborating with them and the DEA was his best course of action. Though they assured the repeat offender that they’d leave once he made the necessary call, the tenacious twosome had the final laugh when law enforcement arrived to search Darien’s business premises, thus ensuring his downfall (which brought great joy to Duffy).
In a brief interlude in Boston, Reacher realizes how crucial finding Teresa is for Duffy as they consult with the missing CIA’s grandmother. The relentless DEA agent assures that they will bring Teresa home safely. In LA, there’s an emotional exchange between them where Reacher acknowledges Duffy’s commitment and sincere concern about Teresa. Recognizing the need to save Teresa before dealing with Quinn, he appreciates her determination. No longer able to resist their feelings, Reacher and Duffy deepen their relationship, leading to an intimate moment together.
In the meantime, we get our first look at the enigmatic Teresa as she’s in Quinn’s grasp, with the unstable arms dealer dosing the confidential informant to keep her submissive. Simultaneously in Chicago, Neagley (played by Maria Sten) embarks on a personal investigation to gather information following an unsuccessful assassination attempt at her workplace. The resourceful private investigator manages to trace Quinn’s former associate, Costopoulos, and discovers that he has a history of seizing control of businesses, coercing the owners into compliance, and eventually resolving outstanding matters before moving on to a new objective.
Neagley Warns Beck About What’s to Come
Beck Joins Team Reacher
In Boston, Reacher and Duffy recruit Neagley to meet with Beck, pretending she’s an associate of Damien Prado’s (to keep Quinn from suspecting), and during this crucial encounter, the private investigator warns the endangered father and businessman that both he and Richard (Johnny Berchtold) are in serious danger. She discloses that Quinn will carry out the same horrific act on him and his son as he has done to all the other families he’s targeted: brutally killing them before moving on to another location. Neagley tells Beck that Reacher is their only chance of survival, but to secure their help, he must spy on Quinn and locate where and when the arms deal will take place.
Beck finds himself readily cooperating, given that he’s already suffered a harrowing ordeal at Quinn’s hands. Recall when Quinn made Richard play a heart-wrenching game of Russian Roulette in front of his father, and then severed his ear just as he had done to his son earlier. To safeguard his son from such horrors, Beck chooses to betray Quinn and assist Reacher and the DEA, a decision that grows increasingly clear after he finds solace in a tender and healing moment with Richard upon uncovering a childhood toy pistol.
Quinn Lays a Trap for Beck & the ATF
Emboldened by fresh resolve, I delve into uncovering the details of our impending business transaction and learn it will transpire on the eve of my 50th birthday celebration, held at a salvage yard. Quinn informs me that under no circumstances should Richard be absent from our residence, a fact I promptly share with Reacher, Neagley, Duffy, and Villanueva (Roberto Montesinos). Fired up to confront Quinn, Reacher expresses justifiable ire upon learning that Duffy has decided to bring in the ATF for this operation. The subsequent meeting between us is as explosive as one would anticipate, with the agitated Reacher leading the charge.
At the designated meeting spot where everyone gathered to apprehend Quinn and dismantle his operation, Reacher and Duffy were stationed in a surveillance van. However, when Duffy spotted Reacher retrieving a sniper rifle from the trunk of a car, it became apparent that he had no plans to allow the ATF to handle Quinn’s situation alone. This revelation sparked a heated conversation between them, as Duffy expressed her concern that Reacher would be in constant danger if he pursued killing Quinn. Nevertheless, she soon realized that Reacher was determined to put an end to Quinn’s life, much like before.
When Reacher contacts Neagley to inform her he’s acting independently, he learns that she’s tracking the buyers, who aren’t going to the scrapyard as expected but rather towards Beck’s expansive property instead. This revelation makes it clear to Reacher that Quinn deceived Beck about the location of the deal, and everyone is being led into a trap. This surprising twist sets the stage for what promises to be an action-packed finale for season 3. Not only will the much-anticipated fight between Reacher and Paulie take place in the last episode, but Reacher also gets an opportunity for retribution against Quinn, all while attempting to protect Richard and Teresa and thwart a possible terrorist threat.
Reacher Season 3 is currently streaming on Prime Video. New episodes premiere every Thursday.
