Colleen Hoover’s Next Big Screen Adaptations You Can’t Miss!

In today’s digital world, it’s hard not to recognize the name Colleen Hoover, especially following the legal dispute involving Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively after their movie adaptation of “It Ends With Us,” a novel penned by Hoover. Known as one of the most popular authors on Booktok and Wattpad, Colleen Hoover is renowned for her captivating romance novels. Despite being admired for her skill in crafting compelling stories, she has also been linked to various controversies.

Despite the controversy surrounding “It Ends With Us,” Colleen Hoover continues to thrive. Not even a significant lawsuit linked to her name can slow her down. This literary sensation is far from fading, with no less than three more projects ready for takeoff on the horizon.

‘Regretting You’

October 24, 2025

The upcoming movie “Regretting You,” scheduled for release on October 24, 2025, is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2019 novel of the same name, which gained more attention following the author’s success with “It Ends With Us“. Directed by Josh Boone, known for his work on the poignant romance film “The Fault In Our Stars“, this movie boasts a talented cast. McKenna Grace, recognized for her roles in movies like “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and “Gifted“, will portray Clara, while Allison Williams, famously known for her role as Marnie on the HBO series “Girls“, will play Clara’s mother, Morgan. Dave Franco and Mason Thames will be featured as Jonah and Miller, the love interests of Morgan and Clara respectively.

The main characters in the forthcoming movie will undoubtedly be Williams and Grace, as the story, titled “Regretting You,” primarily revolves around the complicated bond between a mother and her daughter. At a tender age, Morgan Grant’s life took an unexpected turn when she found herself a young mother, putting her personal dreams aside. As Clara, her daughter, grew into her teenage years, their relationship became strained due to frequent disagreements. The passing of Clara’s father, Chris, following an accident, further complicated matters, making the pursuit of a strong, loving mother-daughter bond seem nearly impossible. In this upcoming movie adaptation of Hoover’s book, we delve deep into the intricacies of motherhood, tackle challenging conversations, and journey towards rebuilding the emotional connection between a mother and her daughter.

‘Reminders of Him’

February 13, 2026

Originally published in 2022, the novel “Reminders of Him” by Colleen Hoover is set to become a movie as well. Given the global success of her previous book “It Ends With Us,” which was a box office hit, Universal Pictures has secured the film rights. Actress Maika Monroe has been cast in the leading role, with the story’s adaptation and production being handled by Hoover herself along with Lauren Levine, through their own production company, Heartbones Entertainment, founded in 2023. Vanessa Caswill, known for her work on “Love at First Sight,” will direct the film. The movie adaptation of “Reminders of Him” is scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day, February 13, 2026.

While the rest of the cast hasn’t been announced yet, fans have some pretty good suggestions:

The narrative entitled “Memories of Him” delves into a poignant tale encompassing the themes of motherhood and forgiveness, illustrating that love can often mend a broken heart. The character Kenna Rowan, a young mother, endured five years in prison for an unfortunate incident resulting in her boyfriend Scotty’s demise. Upon her release, she struggles to reclaim custody of her daughter, who faces opposition from the entire town. Despite this, only one individual extends assistance: Ledger, Scotty’s closest companion. However, their lives become further complicated as mutual feelings develop between them, adding another layer of complexity to Kenna’s journey towards redemption and reconciliation with her loved ones.

‘Verity’

Release Date TBA

Hoover’s third film adaptation from her books will be drawn from her 2018 novel titled “Verity“. Amazon MGM Studios have secured the rights for this movie, with Michael Showalter, famously known from “The Idea of You“, set to direct. Additionally, Anne Hathaway, who starred in “The Idea of You“, is joining the cast of “Verity” as Verity Crawford. Josh Hartnett will play Jeremy Crawford and Dakota Johnson will portray Lowen Ashleigh.

Verity, unlike the author’s other works, presents a striking contrast due to its exploration of psychological thriller themes and its ominous atmosphere. The story revolves around Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who experiences a life-changing event when offered a lucrative opportunity by Jeremy Crawford. Verity, a successful but injured author, is unable to complete her project, so Jeremy hires Lowen to ghostwrite it for her. To fulfill her duties, Lowen moves in with the Crawfords. However, as time passes, she uncovers Verity’s disturbing secrets.

It’s evident that Colleen Hoover has a rich collection of stories lined up for film adaptations. With titles like “Regretting You“, “Reminders of Him“, and “Verity“, these three books are set to become blockbuster movies, given the high-profile names associated with them. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly in their production.
