Given the global success of her previous book “It Ends With Us,” which was a box office hit, Universal Pictures has secured the film rights. Actress Maika Monroe has been cast in the leading role, with the story’s adaptation and production being handled by Hoover herself along with Lauren Levine, through their own production company, Heartbones Entertainment, founded in 2023. Vanessa Caswill, known for her work on “Love at First Sight,” will direct the film. The movie adaptation of “Reminders of Him” is scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day, February 13, 2026.

Hoover’s third film adaptation from her books will be drawn from her 2018 novel titled “Verity“. Amazon MGM Studios have secured the rights for this movie, with Michael Showalter, famously known from “The Idea of You“, set to direct. Additionally, Anne Hathaway, who starred in “The Idea of You“, is joining the cast of “Verity” as Verity Crawford. Josh Hartnett will play Jeremy Crawford and Dakota Johnson will portray Lowen Ashleigh.
Verity, unlike the author’s other works, presents a striking contrast due to its exploration of psychological thriller themes and its ominous atmosphere. The story revolves around Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who experiences a life-changing event when offered a lucrative opportunity by Jeremy Crawford. Verity, a successful but injured author, is unable to complete her project, so Jeremy hires Lowen to ghostwrite it for her. To fulfill her duties, Lowen moves in with the Crawfords. However, as time passes, she uncovers Verity’s disturbing secrets.
