While X-Men enthusiasts generally recognize Psylocke, or Betsy Braddock, it’s worth noting that in Marvel Rivals’ Multiverse concept, an alternate version of her was created by Peach Momoko from the Demon Days comic series – this variant provides a Feudal Japan-inspired twist for several Marvel characters.
Just last week, Marvel Rivals unveiled a one-shot comic titled “Ignite”, which showcases various characters crafted with Momoko’s distinctive, mythical Japanese perspective.
Marvel Rivals: Ignite
According to Marvel.com’s announcement, the upcoming comic “Marvel Rivals: Ignite” presents three tales centered around Marvel Rivals characters within a fantastical Japanese setting. The comic will be available starting June 11th, and it showcases alternate versions of Psylocke, Venom, Peni Parker, Punisher, Hela, and Luna Snow. Here are the cover previews:
It’s worth noting that Psylocke, known as Sai in the comics, was the main character in ‘Demon Days’, a series that introduced a unique ‘Oni’ version of Venom and Sai’s canine companion, Logan. Regrettably, this collection of cosmetics doesn’t include a Wolverine skin with a special design.
In addition to the new comics, Marvel Rivals recently announced that at least three characters – Punisher, Hela, and Luna Snow – will soon receive skins designed by Peach Momoko. These unique costumes can be obtained within the game.
The release date for the costumes hasn’t been announced yet, but given that the comic is scheduled for June, it seems likely that NetEase might unveil these skins at approximately the same time to capitalize on some strategic cross-promotional harmony.
Marvel Rivals Summer
As Marvel Rivals prepares for the launch of its second season in April, it’s worth noting that the third season might begin around June. This suggests a potential shift or change in the series’ theme by then.
As of now, no formal announcements have been made concerning Season 2, but whispers abound suggesting it will focus on Mutants and a potential map hinting at the legendary X-Mansion from X-Men tales has leaked. Additionally, characters such as Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Jean Grey are said to be among those who might appear in this season.
It’s important to mention that not only the main character, but also side characters such as Blade and Ultron have had potential leaks. There’s a possibility they might be added to the game before NetEase expands the roster with more mutant characters.

As a passionate fan, I can’t help but speculate about what Season 3 might entail. If the Ignite comics are released around the same time, it could hint at a connection between the comic’s theme and the upcoming season. However, it’s also plausible that the mythical Feudal Japan could have been the theme for Season 2, and the comics might be wrapping up the storyline initiated by the game. The possibilities are intriguing!
To be honest, fans are left with nothing but speculation since NetEase hasn’t released any official information yet. However, such revelations might not be too distant; we could be talking just a few additional weeks.
