While not every actor becomes famous due to their unique, offbeat persona as a star, our particular actor managed to excel in his career and garner immense popularity despite his unconventional image. He is from a film family, has collaborated with prominent actors like Salman Khan, and more. Can you guess who we’re referring to? It’s none other than Emraan Hashmi.
Initially known as Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi, his professional journey commenced working as an assistant director for the film Raaz, released in 2002. The following year, he stepped into acting with Footpath in 2003 and then Murder in 2004, which went on to become a massive hit.
This resulted in him starring in films such as Gangster: A Love Story, the Jannat series, Shanghai, Awarapan, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Crook, Tiger 3, Selfiee, and numerous others. Moreover, Hashmi expanded his acting horizon by venturing into digital media through the platform Showtime, which is backed by Karan Johar.
In the prime of his acting career around the turn of the millennium, Emraan was widely admired – largely due to the nickname “the serial kisser,” a title he earned from appearing in passionate love scenes in many of his movies.
Previously, during an interview on Koffee With Karan, the actor discussed his wife’s response to his on-screen kisses and romantic scenes. He openly shared that he compensated for these on-screen affectionate moments by taking his wife shopping each time.
He explained that in exchange for taking her shopping, she might use a card with numbers totaling nearly seven digits.” Meanwhile, when speaking to NDTV last year, Hashmi humorously suggested that the rule was ancient, or else his bank account would be empty.
Since 2006, Emraan Hashmi has been happily married to Parveen Shahani, and together they have a son named Ayaan Hashmi, who was born in 2010. For those unfamiliar, Mahesh Bhatt, a well-known filmmaker and Alia Bhatt’s father, is his uncle.
On a career note, Emraan Hashmi, who turned 46 today (March 24, 2025), officially announced the upcoming sequel to his 2007 movie “Awarapan”. Titled “Awarapan 2”, the film is set for release next year on April 3, 2026. The enticing teaser video provides a sneak peek into the project.
