The cast for director Lee Cronin’s new version of The Mummy is gradually taking shape, with Laia Costa being the most recent star to join the crew that will bring about the reboot. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Costa will share the screen with Jack Reynor, who plays her on-screen spouse. It appears that their family, consisting of Reynor’s character, Costa’s character, and an uncast daughter, will have no qualms about the difficulties they face when they come across the title’s undead creature and begin experiencing a string of eerily supernatural events.
As a fan, I can attest that Costa has had her fair share of encounters with malevolent forces, given her role in Amazon Prime Video’s expansive fantasy production, “The Wheel of Time,” where she confronted the ominous presence of the Dark One. In this series, she portrayed Moghedien, one of the Forsaken, known for her deceitful and tactical maneuvers. Her impressive resume also includes parts in Drake Doremus’ romantic drama “Newness,” Dan Fogelman’s “Life Itself,” and Alauda Ruiz de Azúa’s critically acclaimed film “Lullaby.” Costa further solidified her acting prowess as a series regular in the financial thriller “Devils.
More to come…
