Hyundai has released sneak peeks of its upcoming unique concept car, INSTEROID – an innovative design inspired by popular video games and based on their best-selling electric vehicle, the INSTER. This special creation will have its grand debut in April 2025, offering a blend of sharp visual elements with practical driving characteristics.
The name “INSTEROID” is derived from combining “INSTER” and “steroid,” to suggest a muscular, enhanced version of the sub-compact electric vehicle that has been popular in Europe and South Korea since its launch in June 2024, aiming to convey a sense of power and amplification.
The teaser images suggest a bold, arcade-inspired design: wide wheel wells incorporating air vents, massive 21-inch wheels, and an assertive rear spoiler and diffuser. The distinctive Pixel LED lights and game-like control features emphasize the vehicle’s lively character. Hyundai describes INSTEROID as a “dream car that brings a smile,” designed to enhance the joy of driving an electric vehicle. Every aspect, from the dashboard’s instrument cluster to the braking mechanism, embodies a youthful, imaginative mindset.
Presented as a “blip in the automotive system,” INSTEROID serves more as a showcase of Hyundai’s inventive design aspirations, rather than a production-ready vehicle. Keep an eye out for its grand reveal coming up next month.
