The eagerly anticipated follow-up to Salman Khan’s hit movie Kick, titled Kick 2, was formally announced on October 4, accompanied by a captivating photo shoot of the star shared by producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Fans have been on tenterhooks for updates regarding this project ever since. Now, screenwriter Rajat Arora has provided a significant update, disclosing that the script is under active development and nearing completion. He further stated that among characters worthy of a sequel, Devi Lal from Kick stands out as a prime candidate.
For those unfamiliar, Salman Khan portrayed the character of Devi Lal Singh, more commonly known as both Devil and “Devil” – a contemporary take on Robin Hood, but with an Indian (desi) flair.
Rajat Arora revealed to Mid-day that the sequel, Kick 2, will pick up the narrative right after the events of Kick (2014), featuring Salman Khan reprising his role as a police officer once more.
Regarding the development of the movie, he mentioned that among all characters, Devil Lal from Kick is the one who warrants a follow-up film. He also noted that although there was a significant desire for Kick 2, the team decided against hastily starting production just to cash in on the first movie’s success.
Rather than focusing on completion, they emphasized the creation of an engaging storyline first. As for the script development, Rajat informed us that it’s underway and nearing completion.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but gush about how Sajid Nadiadwala’s mastery of the art of filmmaking is at the heart of Kick 2’s creation. From weaving captivating tales to flawlessly executing them, his touch is undeniably essential in sculpting this cinematic marvel. I can’t help but acknowledge Salman Khan’s larger-than-life presence and unmatched stardom, which undoubtedly casts a spell over the writing process. Yet, it’s crucial to understand that the heart of Kick 2 lies in its compelling narrative, which serves as the foundation for the screenplay and dialogues.
In referencing the well-known phrase from the movie Kick, “I’m in the heart, not the mind,” Rajat Arora stated that this embodied Salman Khan’s character.
Apart from discussing other topics, he additionally shared insights about the highly anticipated movie “Sikandar” starring Salman Khan. He voiced his appreciation for director AR Murugadoss’s innovative approach. He disclosed that the narrative instantly gripped him, praising it as both powerful and significant in a social context, all while ensuring it remains entertaining.
Additionally, he discussed the difficulties encountered when creating the script, explaining how maintaining a delicate emotional equilibrium while adhering to the main movie’s central idea demanded meticulous attention.
On March 30, 2025, Salman Khan’s movie titled “Sikandar” is scheduled for release. In this film, you’ll find him sharing the screen with Rashmika Mandanna.
