War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is shutting down this May

As a devoted Final Fantasy enthusiast, I’ve got some disappointing news to share: one of our beloved mobile games, War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, is unfortunately being taken off the grid. It seems Square Enix has been forced to pull the plug on another mobile title in their lineup, following a trend of closures in recent years. If you’re keen on experiencing this game one last time before it’s gone for good, make sure you log in and join the fray before May 29th of this year – that’s when the servers will be shut down forever.

war_of_the_visions, as previously mentioned, continues Square Enix’s series of mobile games that have closed down recently. Interestingly, this offshoot game is slated to close in September 2024 as well.

As a gamer, I can’t help but notice that Square Enix seems to be grappling with some uncertainty about their mobile games lately. Given their extensive library of mobile titles, from modern offerings like War of the Visions to classic retro ports, this isn’t entirely unexpected.


Treading the overworld

It seems Square Enix has been releasing an overwhelming number of mobile spin-offs lately, and this could be the reason behind the cancellations. As it happens, they are preparing to launch Final Fantasy XIV on mobile soon, which is already popular enough that fans have plenty of options for enjoying their favorite franchise on the go without more spin-offs.

Yet, it seems there might be an element of undue confidence, regrettably leading to the disappointment of fans who were undoubtedly relishing in what many likely appreciated.
