Marvel Studios revealed the extensive cast list for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ over a span of six hours on March 26th. Among those named was Paul Rudd, who will once again take on the role of Scott Lang, better known as Ant-Man. The MCU veteran made jokes about his return during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’. However, fans should temper their enthusiasm as Rudd kept quiet about any potential spoilers. He did not share details about whether Hope van Dyne/ Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) or daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) would appear in ‘Doomsday’. Rudd stated, “I’m sworn to secrecy.
I noticed that announcement, but unfortunately, I can’t share any details with you. They are extremely secretive about this project, given its significance. After all, it’s a significant movie production we’re talking about here. You can’t take such matters lightly. It’s not like military secrets or anything of the sort. This is Marvel Studios, Jimmy! Given its importance, there’s simply nothing I can reveal to you at this time.
In 2019, Rudd significantly contributed to Marvel’s blockbuster success, “Avengers: Endgame.” However, since the occurrences of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in 2023, fans haven’t had a chance to watch Scott Lang on the big screen. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has shifted focus, with Kang (Jonathan Majors) being set up as the main antagonist for upcoming “Avengers” sequels. However, with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom taking over that role, it’s highly probable that cinemas will be filled with excited viewers in 2026.
Beyond Rudd, I myself am among the actors who will be making a comeback in Doomsday, as previously seen in either Avengers: Infinity War or Endgame. This group includes Chris Hemsworth (portraying Thor), Anthony Mackie (as Captain America), Sebastian Stan (depicting Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier/White Wolf), Tom Hiddleston (bringing Loki to life), Letitia Wright (representing Black Panther), and Winston Duke (embodying M’Baku).
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Casting News Reveals Arrival of the X-Men & More
Luckily, Marvel shared a shorter version of their six-hour casting announcement for Avengers: Doomsday on Mar. 26, lasting around two minutes. This abridged video was perfect for those who didn’t wish to watch the entire event. One of the highlights from the social media post was Marvel confirming that several original X-Men characters would appear in the upcoming sequel, with Patrick Stewart (as Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique) all set to reprise their roles.
As a fan, I wasn’t too taken aback when Kelsey Grammer (Beast) made an appearance in the MCU during the post-credits scene of “The Marvels.” However, what really caught me off guard was the casting announcement for Channing Tatum as Gambit, reprising his role from the 2024 summer blockbuster “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Moreover, in the year 2026, we’ll see Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Thing) from “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” joining forces to confront Doctor Doom, played by none other than Downey Jr.
The rest of the cast includes some familiar faces:
1. Kelsey Grammer as Beast
2. Channing Tatum as Gambit
3. Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic
4. Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman
5. Joseph Quinn as Human Torch
6. Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Thing
7. Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom
- Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova/Black Widow)
- Tenoch Huerta Mejia (Namor)
- Simu Liu (Shang-Chi)
- David Harbour (Red Guardian)
- Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost)
- Lewis Pullman (Bob/Sentry)
- Wyatt Russell (John Walker/U.S. Agent)
- Danny Ramirez (Falcon)
Initially, Marvel’s decision to exclude popular actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Elizabeth Olsen from their cast announcement caused concern among MCU fans, as they speculated that Marvel was making a significant error. However, it became clear later on that the studio had not yet finalized its lineup of ultimate Avengers to confront Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom, which sparked great excitement. The release date for Avengers: Doomsday is set for May 1, 2026, keeping fans eagerly awaiting the upcoming adventure.
