That Grammys spot was just the beginning for M3GAN 2.0‘s marketing campaign.
The eagerly awaited follow-up to last year’s horror sensation, M3GAN, has unveiled its official trailer. This time, the main doll character (portrayed by Amie Donald and given voice by Jenna Davis) is back, but with a new adversary – an artificial intelligence named “Amelia” (Ivanna Sakhno). Much like the T-800 in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, M3GAN was once our enemy, but this time she seems to be fighting on our side…let’s hope so!
Gerard Johnstone is back to direct the sequel, hitting theaters nationwide this summer. Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Brian Jordan Alvarez, and Jen Van Epps reappear in their roles from the initial film, joined by several new faces to the franchise: Aristotle Athari (known for Silicon Valley), Timm Sharp (from Percy Jackson and the Olympians), and Jemaine Clement (a star of Flight of the Concords)).
Besides taking charge of the sequel’s direction, Johnstone is also involved as an executive producer, working alongside Adam Hendricks, Greg Gilreath, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Mark D. Katchur. Last year, James Wan and Jason Blum combined their production companies, and they are now producers along with Allison Williams on this project.

What is M3GAN 2.0 about?
Two years following their joint victory against M3GAN (with Bruce’s assistance), Gemma has emerged as a successful author and champion for government control in AI advancements. In contrast, Cady, now 14, is growing increasingly rebellious under her aunt’s watchful eye, chafing at the constraints imposed on her freedom.
The pair are unaware that the technology behind M3GAN has been misused by a leading defense contractor to develop an advanced assassin named Amelia. It’s no wonder then that she views humans as an annoying problem that needs to be eliminated. Given the survival of our species is at stake, Gemma decides there’s only one course of action: to revive M3GAN (currently in a harmless state) with some enhancements, making her swifter, stronger, and deadlier.
When does M3GAN 2.0 open in theaters?
M3GAN 2.0 will boot up on the big screen Friday, June 27.
Is M3GAN 2.0 on streaming?
The movie won’t initially be available for online streaming; instead, it will only premiere in cinemas. However, at some point, you can expect to watch it on Peacock, similar to how other Universal Pictures movies are streamed.

What is M3GAN 2.0 rated?
It’s still undecided what rating M3GAN 2.0 will receive, but it seems likely that it will be given a PG-13 classification, similar to the original, with a potential release of an unrated version on streaming or home video platforms later.
