The Sunday airing of ‘The White Lotus’ drew a record-breaking 6.2 million viewers across various platforms, marking the series’ highest viewership on its first night. The number of viewers increased by 29% compared to the previous episode’s total of 4.8 million – a significant increase that surpassed the 4.2 million viewers from the week before.
The final episode, marked by multiple character deaths during a gunfight hinted at in the initial scenes of the season, was the most-watched episode so far, surpassing previous ones in terms of viewership. Compared to the season finale from December 2022 that garnered 4.1 million viewers on its premiere night, Sunday’s installment saw a 50% increase, and it more than tripled the number of viewers for the first season finale (1.9 million).
Season three of “The White Lotus” garnered its highest viewership yet for a premiere, with an impressive 2.4 million viewers tuning in across various platforms (such as the initial broadcast on HBO, re-airings, and streaming on Max). The season opener is now estimated to have reached nearly 20 million viewers, according to HBO.
As a gamer eagerly tuning in each week, I can’t help but be captivated by the growing viewership of “The White Lotus.” According to HBO, the current season is averaging an impressive 16 million viewers and climbing in the United States, surpassing the 15.5 million viewers for season two. It’s exciting to know that the audience numbers for season three will keep growing, as HBO measures its series’ performance across multiple platforms for 90 days after they premiere. With 50 days already elapsed since the debut of season three, I can hardly wait to see where these numbers go!
Already commissioned for a fourth season, the series originates from the creative mind of writer-director-producer Mike White. Additionally, David Bernad and Mark Kamine serve as executive producers alongside him.
In an interview for the cover story of THR, White suggested that the machinery for season four was starting to move, even though he hasn’t penned anything down yet. “HBO is already putting pressure on us for season four,” he stated. “When they find something they’re excited about, they want to release it as soon as possible.” He also expressed his desire to take a break, as they had originally planned to start scouting in April, but he hadn’t been home for three years.
